A wonderful tour into the delightful world of Orchids.
David our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and answered all our questions. For a fairly small garden we must have been introduced to dozens of different orchids (a notice at the entrance said that 120 were in bloom today).
The 45 minute guided tour actually ran over by about 10 minutes but the garden was available to continue perusing for those who had more time.
Well worth the $17.

The orchid tour is SO worth it. This place is amazing. When we were there in Jan 140 different species were blooming! We will be back someday!

… US customs took the orchids we bought here despite them having the paperwork inside of the box. Maybe not worth the risk taking them home. Or just don’t claim them. 🙈

I originally wanted to just walk the garden without the tour, that would have been a huge mistake! I learned so much! The tour guide was very knowledgeable. I would have missed so many treasures without her guidance. Gorgeous gorgeous flowers and very informative. Would 10/10 recommend.

I almost missed out on that place and thankfully I did not! It doesn’t look like much from the outside, but once you dive in, you are in for a treat.

A very knowledgeable guide will walk you through over 100 varieties of orchids, most of them local to Monteverde, while feeding you backstories and factoids about these gorgeous plants. It’ll last about an hour and every minute is worth it.

If you love plants and are in the Monteverde area, you have to put this place on your bucket list! Best part is, it’ll be different every day due to budding and flowering cycles.

A modest and magical little spot that houses a spectacular 100+ orchid species. Our guide, Andres, has a wonderful knowledge of these plants that is informative, and his love for them is infectious. It was a spectacular experience from start to finish. Hard to believe we got his expertise, a magnifying glass to use, and so many extraordinary species to see for only $16.

Came for the last tour. It was just the guide and I since it was raining. The guide was very knowledgeable and the orchids were gorgeous. They give you a magnifying glass as some of the flowers are very tiny.

What a fantastic experience!
We are orchid people so this tour is maybe not for everyone but we found it so informative and interesting. Our guide was David and he was exceptional. He was bright, educated and most importantly very interested in orchids. You can come back again all week with your ticket to visit the plants again which I think is a nice touch. If you are interested in Orchids, I highly recommend this place. The cafe adjacent was lovely as well. David - if you are reading this - I have already bought 4 orchids you showed us today.

Many, many orchids to see. A small location, but well worth a visit.
Butterflies and hummingbirds were there when we visited. The guide was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about orchids. We loved the place.

This was fantastic and great value for money if you like plants! One orchid smells exactly like watermelon. Our guided tour was very interesting and included with the price. Consider spending 1-2 hours here.

This is a hidden gem in Monteverde. Im so glad I did the tour with Andres (in English). He was very knowledgeable about the different species of orchids in Costa Rica, and even offered free advice on how to care for commercial orchids people buy from department stores. Even those who are not into plants as much would enjoy the different birds in the area. I would come back and visit again!

Arrived for the 2pm guided tour with Andres, who was so knowledgeable and spoke impeccable English. Lovely gardens with a large variety orchids - 99% of which I have never seen before and would never recognize as orchids! There is a sweet little covered seated area where you can enjoy the rain and the blooms. Highly recommend! Only adding a few photos, because you should come and see/smell the rest in person!

Andreas was our tour guide and was absolutely fantastic!! His knowledge on orchids was outstanding! He told us facts and information that you really wouldn’t have known before! The tour is $16 and 45 minutes long our tour was more like an hour but whose really counting? We saw so many orchids that we didn’t even know where orchids! This tour is definitely worth it!! Bring your receipt back and you can enter and walk through the garden whenever you want!

I loved this place. So many beautiful plants in an outdoor space. Our guide was nice and knowledgeable. You may catch a glimpse of wildlife such as butterflies and hummingbirds while in the garden.
They have tours scheduled at the start of every hour while they are open. I would arrive 10 minutes til to not wait as long.

We had a great visit in the Orchid garden with a wonderful guide Melanie. Melanie explained all about orchids of Costa Rica and made sure we see many species of miniature orchids through the provided magnifying glass. The tour takes about 40 to 45 minutes. Greatly recommended!

The Monteverde Orchid Garden is a magical place to visit. David, our guide, provided us with an enjoyable and richly informative tour. He pointed out flowers that I otherwise never would have seen. I returned later in the week and had a good time trying to find small flowers and plants on my own.

Andres is so knowledgeable. We came here with no expectations, given we know very little about orchids. Andres did such a great job introducing the beautiful flowers and telling the stories about them. We really enjoyed our time here. The garden is small but has so many varieties.

I am so glad I did the tour with the young professional guide. I felt he was excellent! I learned so much about orchids and saw so many from the tiniest to knowing about larger strains/hybrids. I felt i got to see many of the indigenous to CR orchids in a small enough space to not feel overwhelmed, highly recommend!

If plants make you happy, you will have a lovely time. The Tour was 45 minutes, our guide Andres is super knowledgeable and passionate. There were many orchids in bloom, many we would not have seen without the guide. Worth the 17US$
