Had a great day on the boat!

We knew we wanted to do a full day fishing charter while staying at Dreams Las Meras.

Did some research and found Papagayo Sport Fishing. Immediately the captain was responsive and answered any questions my group came up with.

On the day of the charter, they picked us up right from the beach of our resort!

We went out and fished for “bait” for an hour or so. Once we had bait, the fishing was on!!

Caught a bunch of great fish and the boat crew worked INCREDIBLY HARD!

I was the only one in my group that had deep see experience, didn’t matter one bit!

Great day fishing. Dan and Davy were kind, professional and very helpful. Clean reliable boat and well maintained fishing equipment. Genaro and his team are good communicators and all the details of the trip were meticulously planned and executed.

Absolutely the best trip ever. Picked up from the beach and my wife and I got to spend 4 hours with 3 fantastic people who went out of their way to spoil us rotten!! Cold water, cold beer and wonderful fresh pineapple and melon. Oh and the fishing….mind blowing. Ok we didn’t get to land a Rooster Fish but what a Yellowfin Tuna my wife got to the boat. The deck hands quickly cut up about 2lbs for sushi which we all devoured!! We also landed dozens of black tuna, Bonita and skip-hacks.

We booked a half a day for deep sea fishing. The booking was easy and there was great communication. The boat was nice and clean and the crew was friendly and worked really hard to find the fish. We caught a 40lb Mahi Mahi. It was a bit of a slow start but being out there was beautiful and overall great. We had plenty of snacks, fruits and drinks and after we caught the fish the crew made us ceviche. We took the rest to a restaurant and it was cooked for us. We would definitely book again.

Booked a full day from Playa Conchal with very helpful Capt. Juan Mendez. Captain Styven and his brother were our captains. Friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Told them we did not want to troll all the time ( boring), wanted to use our lighter tackle gear, and wanted to go after Rooster fish. Went slightly offshore for live bonito bait which was fun catching ( even took some to our hotel for delicious sashimi). Then for 4 hours not a bite until the Roosters appeared. An 80 and a 60 pounder! Fantastic experience, well worth the price. Pura vida! Thank you Papagayo!

It was a fantastic trip with great bottom fishing experience. We got over 40 fish plus one large Mahi Mahi unexpectedly!!! The crew was wonderful, thank you so much Genaro, Capitain David and Adriano, we really enjoyed it a lot and thank for all you have done!!!

We fished the board the La Manta with Captain Lino and Jonathan and had one of the best experiences ever fishing offshore. Very professional and hard-working I will absolutely book with them again!

Captain Lino and mate Jason were great! Lino found a great spot and ended up with 4 dorados. The last one was the big one.

Captain and crew took care of our every need. Fishing was spectacular. Bring long sleeves ,sun screen, and be ready to catch fish.

My husband and I booked an off shore charter. The captain and crew were very knowledgeable about the fish and fishing techniques but also about the areas we passed en route to where we fished. We each caught a Mahi-mahi and my husband also caught a Mackerel. One crew member fixed Sushi for us from one of the Mahi we caught... delicious! We will definitely book again with Papagayo when we return to Costa Rica!

We had the best time on our trip. We were able to catch 3 sailfish, 4 jacks, a rooster fish and a needlefish. They had a lot of information about the area, and went out of their way to make us feel special. Highly recommend!!!

Had a trip focused on Snorkling, we did some off shore fishing as well as spearfishing as extras. We saw dolphin, turtle, rays, octopus etc and ate the catch.

My Friend booked a trip with these folks. We were picked up from the beach at the resort. We went on the La Manta with Captain “Leemo” and mates Josh and Daniel. We were treated very well by the crew. Both of us landed a Blue Marlin and Mahi-Mahi. The captain maneuvered the boat perfectly and the mates gave great guidance to us as we had never fished for Marlin before. Amazing day with top notch crew.

I fished aboard the mahi mahi on Wednesday march 8th 2017. Originally we were scheduled to fish on the 4th,which was me and my wife's first day in Costa Rica (flamingo),but were canceled due to the winds. The area was experiencing nasty pressures and fake winds up to 45mph,and were deemed in safe to fish from smaller boats. Genaro from papagayo worked with our schedule and got us a day on the boat for our last day in country.the winds just started to die down enough for a safe trip thank god. Our captain was Jose,and first mate was Lino. We started the morning off trolling for bait which resulted in a few bonitas.the bonitas were very fun to catch on light tackle,and we used light tackle because I requested to the captain that we use our own gear because I wanted my wife to have fun catching the smaller fish. Captain Jose was very accommodating for that. Personally my only targets were eaither a roosterfish or cubera snapper. So after we hook the few bonitas right off the bat,we make a b line to some rocks a few miles off playa flamingo. Witching. Few minutes of dropping the first Bonita we hook into a runner! 10 minutes after muscling the fish I land my first ever rooster. It was roughly 65 pounds! A dream come true! Although we did not hook another,I was very thankful to land this once in a life time fish,and captain Jose and first mate Lino worked. Sry hard to get us on another.we trolled rapalas for more tuna to use as bait,and ended up catching some of the bait on rock and snagging them,but that is apart of fishing.there was definitely a language barrier,and I've seen some reviews of this boat critiquing the conversation side of it,but I realized they weren't comfortable speaking their second language all the time because it is their second language.....and that's normal!! Heck I'm not fully comfortable with my second language of Spanish either.but every time I asked questions or tried to communicate in my very badly broken Spanish they tried to assist me and speak to me in a comprehensive manner. Eitherway they made a dream come true and were professional when it counted,and that's when it came to hunting down the catch and landing my dream fish. All I can say is THANK YOU JOSE, LINO, and Genaro!!

The owner was very responsive and helpful when calling and emailing with questions. We had a great day fishing on a 1/2 day charter. Caught many red snapper and a couple Mahi.

We had two great trips with this crew! We caught several Mahi, and even got a Rooster- and Captain Gravin and Geremy made the trip so enjoyable, we couldn’t have asked for more. Thank you Papagayo! Hope to be back again some day.

We really enjoyed our time on the American Dream with Captain Luis and crewmen Jason and Roberto!! A great experience!
