Great mud bath with only a few people in it at a time. The ladies help you clean off in the lake afterward. Very relaxing time.

My husband and I booked a tour to come to this mud bath volcano and it did NOT disappoint. There’s a lot of people who work around there - so please please please come with cash to tip!! They’re super friendly but def work for tips so if you’re not wanting to tip don’t let them help you, you will only disappoint them and that’s so unfair.

There’s group tours that go here during the day so expect to wait in line along the stairs. EVERYTHING is tipped - the guys taking your photos, the men giving mud massages, and the women who help wash you off in the lagoon.

This was a great experience and I would 100% do it again.

We really enjoyed our trip to the mud volcano. Bring lots of cash for tips...and a sense of adventure. This is a very unique and fun experience, but you will be involuntarily bumping into strangers as you float around in the therapeutic mud... without any way to control your movements/momentum. Afterwards your skin will feel so soft!

Amazing local experience not for the faint of heart! I recommend using a local tour guide as we did! We booked with Shore Excursioner

Do not miss this Volcan, before arriving to the volcano we visited a small town and learned about the salt mines we then took a short ride to the volcano. They have changing rooms and provided lockers with a lock for you to store your belongings, our phone was handed to Junior who took all the pictures and videos we wanted. The messages are included and so was the assistant to wash off the mud( which you will still have some when you get back to the hotel 🙃) My skin still feels amazing 2 weeks later. It was not packed at all and we were not rushed.

We went with E-Trip Tours. On a Thursday, and the bus took us to the Volcano and had us strip everything down before we head to the volcano. Would highly recommend you doing so. The volcano was amazing. You can choose to get a massage in the volcano or not, would highly recommend doing so so that you can get the whole experience. We got a very nice massage and it was actually so very much needed and appreciated. It may not be the very best but it something and it just was very nice as we knew it’s better than nothing. After speaking with the locals in there, they mentioned how this is their job and they’re in there for hours and this is their only way to afford food and a roof over their heads. Tourists are their only income and they truly appreciate everything. They try to be helpful and understanding, truly they just want us (the tourists) to feel welcomed and enjoy this country and come back and spread the word. These minerals in the volcano is good for you, you can have it in any part of your body (no pun intended). We (the Colombians) call this a way to kill negativity that we’ve accumulated and refresh/cleanse our souls and body. Great way to start a new year to be completely honest.

Things to take note of:
To the locals that you give your stuff to, you will have to pay a tip. For the washing in the water, the ladies washing you will touch you all over or ask you to take your swimsuit off, I recommend doing so unless you want to feel the mud all over your private parts… for the rest of the day. For the local who watched your shoes, to the person taking your pictures, to the person who would do anything for a couple of change or cash. Please pay them their tips, they are not paid hourly here like in the states. They’re paid by day and sometimes not enough to even have food on their plate or food for their kids. Whether you pay in usd or cop, or in change, anything would help them. Like I said before, it’s all about the experience for the tourists and for the locals it’s their day to day work life.

A wonderful experience of floating effortlessly in the mud with over 50 minerals to soak in. It was a feeling of being suspended effortlessly. Then a short walk to the lake to wash it all off and food nearby to complete the visit. They even sell bottles of mud for you to take with you if you choose.

It was pretty fun and it wasn’t too crowded. I got the tickets with no lunch and it was like $17 on Viator and everything else was included. Definitely recommend.

Very amusing mud géiser (mud vulcan ), the mud is going from underneath, forming a cone looking like a vulcan. On top of the cone there is a hole full of liquid- like greasy mud. It is a real pleasure to sweem in there.

This was such an enjoyable experience, from floating in the mud inside the volcano to the nice ladies who helped you rinse off in the lake afterwards. The staff was very nice and helpful. Lovely scenery and even made friends with the cats and dogs that lived there. The line gets long really quickly so get there early if you can.

I went there when I was a kid and I had the opportunity to go this time with my husband and children. It cost 20 thousand pesos per person (adults) 10 thousand per kids. Stairs are a bit dangerous when you are going downstairs.

We took a tour to the Volcan de Lodo with a great company with orange shirts. (Can’t remember the name) It was all day with an air conditioned bus and included a fabulous lunch at a beach hotel in the afternoon. The Mud volcano was a very unique experience and I paid for the massage and also the ladies to help ash you off, but you are not required to do either. It cost us $125,000 pesos pp from the walled city but we had to walk a bit to get to the bus and got picked up first and dropped off last. Those in Boca Grande probably paid more but got picked up/dropped at their hotel.

The steps are totally worth it. The mud feels wonderful! It's a once in a lifetime experience. From the volcano, to the mud, the massage, to the ladies that rinse off the mud. Amazing!

This was an awesome adventure! It was probably the highlight of my trip to Cartegena. I went with Experience Real Cartegena, they picked me up from the hotel and gave me all the details and it was great! They had guys there to take your pics the whole time and you get a massage. If you are scared of heights be mindful! The volcano is 60ft deep too, so be prepared to be patient with the process. Ladies rinse you off after, like a little baby lol Bring cash to tip! So much fun tho! Loved it ❤

The best experience ever! It was so cool getting into the volcanic mud and just sitting there. It felt like 0 gravity. There are people there to take photos, give massages, and help clean you off all for a small charge.

I stalked this place on IG for weeks before my trip to Colombia & saw mixed reviews. Some people enjoyed the experience while others complained about the crowd and even inappropriateness from the men in the volcano that do the massages.
I have NO complaints. I booked this activity as apart of a 3 part tour. The drive from Getsamani to here was about 40mins. Each activity was 5,000 pesos(massage, water shoes, if needed, photos, and the bath by the ladies in at the lake). The trek up the volcano was an adventure, the steps get taller the higher up you go. We went around 8:30am and it was not overly crowded, luckily the group that was there were extremely personable so we enjoyed this experience together. The men were so helpful getting me in and out, as well as keeping me stationed because you usually end up on your back floating. The mud was so cool in temperature making the massage on a hot day even more enjoyable. Initially we weren't going to allow the ladies at the lake to shower us(being cheap) but trust me, it is impossible to get that mud off without them! It ends up EVERYWHERE and they have containers to douse you with to get you clean. This whole tour was great and an absolute must if ever you get the opportunity.
