Restaurante Carmina

With my girlfriend, I went to this restaurant in December 2018, and we had a great time. Special thanks to the owner, Fernando, from Barcelona, for taking some time to chat with us: it was really interesting to hear his story and point of view about Popayán!
Definitely come here if you’re looking for fresh and fairly priced Mediterranean food. The lunch menu is just 12.000 COP and it’s delicious!

The owner, Fernando, came from Barcelona several years ago. Food at this restaurant is excellent! They advertise a "taste" of the Mediterranean, and after eating here on several occasions, I can confirm that it is truly as advertised! The daily menu generally has a chicken, beef or pork selection as well as a vegetarian option. The first course is soup, served with a large glass of freshly squeezed fruit juice. The meat entree is served with wonderfully prepared mixed vegetables, a pasta or rice, a few fried potatoes and a fresh salad. This is a great balanced meal. The dessert on the daily menu was home made strawberry ice cream served with a small portion of cake or brownie and is served with tea or coffee. Undescribably delicious! Great service! Again wonderful food! Owners Fernando and Stella speak very good English and are very accommodating to all of their clientele.

The place is pretty and comfy. We ordered pasta and a chicken and basil crepe. The flavors were homemade, portions were fine too. The only thing I disliked is that food had too much pepper for my taste.

We went to Carmina twice: once in the evening for delicious pasta (for around 20.000-30.000 they have their standards and a bit more for specials) and once for the set lunch menu (I think it was 17.000COP) and it was both amazing. The pasta was the best we’ve had in South America. The set lunch was smaller than normal here in Colombia, but with really nice fresh ingredients and it included soup, a main, a dessert ánd some tea or coffee. Great place!

The best deal I have found for a meal anywhere. Fernando really puts effort into preparing high quality cuisine and it shows in everything he serves. During our 3 week stay in Popayan I think we tried pretty much everything they make, and we always left feeling like we discovered a hidden gem! Good luck finding anything comparable in this price range.

Delicious food, great prices, and fantastic service! My husband and I enjoyed chatting with owners Fernando and Estella. Restaurante Carmina is truly a gem and a place to visit time and time again.

Fantastic food with homecooked flavour for a great price. Husband and wife owners are super friendly and this was some the best food we've had in Colombia .We ate here two nights in a row. Go now - you won't be disappointed!

Amazing menu del dia for 12,000.
The owner is a lovely Spanish fella from near Barcelona. It's pretty small, but we managed to get a table quickly. Definitely worth a stop for lunch or dinner.

Great vegetarian lunch menu del dia for 13k. It comes with a small fruit plate, main plate of rice with different vegetables and salads and a nice triangle of bread, a fruit juice, a small dessert and either tea or coffee. Nice restaurant environment. Some of the best food we ate in Popayan.

This is a charming restaurant run by a lovely couple. I had the vegetarian menu del dia and what a feast of healthy food it was - all for COP13,000 less than USD4! Highly recommend if you are in Popyan 👍
