A mum and dad run restaurant & accommodation. They only speak Spanish but we were able to communicate. Food is excellent, 20,000COP for lunch or dinner meal. They even had wine in stock. Showers hot, bed comfortable. This is a remote location that was difficult to get to but made so much better by the warm hospitality received from the owners on our arrival. Waking up to views of the hills and birds chirping was bliss.
Location is in the middle of the Tierradentro UNESCO listed park. For us it was worth the travel to get to and one of our highlights of our trip so far.

La Portada is a special inn situated in a quiet but vibrant rural community. The rooms are simple and straightforward and there are nice outdoor areas for relaxing. We spent 3 wonderful nights there while visiting the UNESCO archaeological sites in the surrounding area. Our hosts, Leonardo and Eva María are genuine and warm and are committed to providing their visitors an authentic visit. Leonardo was a fantastic guide to all of the sites for 2 entire days. We ate all of our meals in the restaurant. María Eva’s food is terrifically fresh and tasty including homemade breads and jams. We highly recommend staying here and wish we could return again.

We stayed here for 5 days because of car problems. Eva and Leonardo made us feel at home immediately and are very hospitable people. The rooms are very clean and the beds are good. The food Eva cooks is amazing!!! Fresh every day with lots of vegetables. Try the Jugo Mora (best we tried). Definitely one of the best places we ate local food in Colombia! Leonardo is also very helpful as he helped us contact mechanics and helped us relax when the problems kept extending. Highly Recommend this place!!!

We stayed here 2 nights and loved it. The room was large, very clean, with a comfortable bed. Also had plenty of hot water and WiFi access. Best of all, the owners, Eva and Leonardo, were extremely welcoming. Eva is a pure delight and cooks wonderful healthy meals while Leonardo was very helpful and knowledgeable about the area.

My wife and I stayed for two nights. The room is great, with nice beds and a good shower with hot water. Food is all good with vegetarian option, and as there are no restaurants in San Andres we ate here for all meals - do ask when they are closing for the night though if you plan to eat there. The WiFi was fine in the restaurant but did not reach the rooms. There was also no phone signal, so we had no internet in the evenings. Everything is cash only, including the 65,000 peso per person entry to the Archeological Park so be sure to bring enough. The 1030 bus from Popayan no longer goes to San Andres, and there is no direct bus back either so be prepared to have to wing the last part of the journey - we got a lift with some locals in their car as the public transport jeeps are rammed full so it's hard to get on with luggage. On the way back we shared a car all the way from San Andreas to Popayan which was great, arranged by La Portada. Note there were a lot of mosquitos in the area, dress in long clothing and use mosquito repellent. The archeological park consists of two walking loops which can be done as part of a long day of hiking (start at 8am) or you can miss one of the sites (El aguacate) in which case the rest can be done in about 5-6 hours and you can stop in San Andres for lunch during the hike. I would recommend using Maps Me with downloaded offline map for the hiking to ensure you are on the right route.

I adored the woman running this place. She was extremely welcoming, friendly and genuinely happy. We don't speak much Spanish so she spoke slowly and used words we understood. We ate here for lunch twice, both times the food was excellent (included veg soup, rice, salad, meat, beans/potato, banana). You can also purchase bottled water (2,000) and beers (4,000 each). Cannot recommend more highly.

Lovely spot in an area without great tourist infrastructure. Old, cute couple runs the place and helps a lot with what you need. Slept incredible for two nights. Send them an email - that’s the easiest way to book.

Super helpfull and friendly owners! A really nicely decorated and clean hotel. They also serve good and fresh food. The owners are very aknowledgeble about how to get around in the area and where to start to explore the tumbes. Very good place to explore Tierradentro!

What a wonderful place to stay in a peaceful, beautiful place.

The food is made with care and is easily the best I ate in Colombia. The deserts are creative and delicious.

This place is a perfect way to relax after a day of hiking through the tombs.

Superb, quaint inn and restaurant in a great location with two of the loveliest, kindest owners you could meet. Makes a great base for exploring Tierradentro, they'll help you with arranging rides to make sure you get where you're going and guides if you want but are never pushy, and the food was a pleasant surprise.

Lovely people, nice food, great for visiting the park. Wifi only at the restaurant, not the hostel.

Loved this place. The food was great and the owners did everything with a smile. The owner took me even to his place when he discovered I was interested in some birding. I spent the whole sunset and the next day he was standing at my door for the sunset session. Even if didn't speak any Spanish he understood I was going back to the place. 👍
