Playa El Pilón de Azúcar

Beautiful place and beautiful beach.

I was part of a tour that spent the day here. They don't have tents or chairs to rent and no bathrooms either, you need to go behind the dunes.

Vendors are here with water and beer. Beautiful natural beach.

Another spot that you shouldn’t miss. A short and not too strenuous hike to the top, but it does get very windy. The views from the top are spectacular. A great place to catch sunset.

This is a very difficult beach to get to. It's 6 plus hours away from Santa Marta. It is a quiet desert beach that is picturesque. This is the type of beach you might see on the Lonely Planet. There is a small rockey mountain,with a Madona statue on top of it, that many people walk up. I recommend walking up the mountain to enjoy the view and take pictures.

It's a nice hike, make sure to use good shoes as the terrain is wild. Also, up there the wind os really strong. You might want to leave a bracelet next to the virgin, a lot of people do it.

Now you've done it to Cabo De la Vela, Pilon de Azucar is a must. A Wayu sacred place but plenty of tourists. Landscape is awesome and walk up the mountain is well worth. If you walk from Cabo it would take you an hour or so. Although there are local people selling drinks, food, cocadas and even mochilas, there's no a restaurant for lunch. So if you fancy to bring food and beverages with you is fine. But keep the land clean and tidy. Leave it better than the way you found it. If you walk 10 minutes towards the north over the coast you'll find Playa Arcoiris or Hoyo Soplador. There's no beach over there but the sea hits the rocks in such a way you'll catch a rainbow.

Great view from the top of the hill. Nice tourist attraction

A great mountain in the desert of colombia. After a quick hike of 10min you will have a spektacular view over the sea and the desert. Take solid footware with you.

Very cool spot. There is a blow hole to the left. You can go right to it and swim around. Worth the trip.
