Our favorite part of our entire trip around Cameroon, absolutely a must! The variety in climates and landscapes is really something unique in this part of the world, and our guide, porters, and the lodges we stayed at were absolutely top. Nothing to add, simply amazing.

We were a group of 4 German guys and did the 3 day tour to the summit and at the backside down. It was all perfect organized and the guide and the porters were excellent. We did the tour with the organization Pro Climate and "Brot für die Welt". So they take care of the environment and protect the mountain. I highly recommend to go with Mount Cameroon Trekking because of the perfect package and the organization behind it.
We slept in new and comfortable huts. Food and water was provided by the porters. We had one porter per person and one guide.
They also offer a shuttle from Douala Airport to Buea.
We had no safety problems because of the political situation or some people, it was one of the safest attraction what we did in Cameroon.

The mountain is right at my door step (Buea, were I was born and grew).
I have made 3 trips to the mountain’s peak. When I was High School and the University. An experience I’ll like to repeat someday with my kids.
Most convenient to visit during the dry season, especially in February, just after the annual “Mount Cameroon Race of Hope.”
I would normally start ascending at night, sleep at hurt 2, then continue to the summit at dawn. My best part was descending at the savanna (after hurt 2). It’s heavenly!!!
I’ll recommend you try it too!

I had one of the greatest hiking trips in my life here. It was so lucky when I can contact one tour guide agent (Ecotour Guides Cameroon) in the rain season (July) and my guide (porter) - Mr. Buma Peter was giving me the best support during the 2-day trip.
The path to the summit has very beautiful scenery and its weather is not so bad in July. So, I finished the trip without any problem.
Just one thing: Enjoy each moment on the way, because on the top has nothing much to enjoy :)

Mount Cameroon is a nice place to visit. It's stressful but I promise you will enjoy each step of it from Buea town to the summit. The experience u get at night when going up is just too much for only one person to see. At hot 2 u have a nice and classic restaurant and resting lodge which u can spend more than just a week on the mountain. A place to be

Mount Cameroon is one of Africa's largest volcanoes, rising to 4,100 metres (13,451 ft) above the coast of west Cameroon. It rises from the coast through tropical rainforest to a bare summit, which is cold, windy, and occasionally dusted with snow. The massive steep-sided volcano of dominantly basaltic-to-trachybasaltic composition forms a volcanic horst constructed above a basement of Precambrian metamorphic rocks covered with Cretaceous to Quaternary sediments. More than 100 small cinder cones, often fissure-controlled parallel to the long axis of the massive 1,400-cubic-kilometre (336 cu mi) volcano, occur on the flanks and surrounding lowlands. A large satellitic peak, Etinde (also known as Little Mount Cameroon), is located on the southern flank near the coast.
Mount Cameroon has the most frequent eruptions of any West African volcano. The first written account of volcanic activity could be the one from the Carthaginian Hanno the Navigator, who may have observed the mountain in the 5th century BC. Moderate explosive and effusive eruptions have occurred throughout history from both summit and flank vents. A 1922 eruption on the southwestern flank produced a lava flow that reached the Atlantic coast. A lava flow from a 1999 south-flank eruption stopped 200 m (660 ft) from the sea, cutting the coastal highway.

I do live at the foot of the mountain. It has one of the best climates in what's generally a very harsh climatic region.
