Nice camping out of the village and on the road to valley exploradores. The guy is super welcoming. Can be closed in off season so be sure to write to the guy, or have a plan b (he just accepted us even if he was technically closed). Shower is basic and not super super functional (because it was also technically closed) but the guy is super helpful.
Wifi and hot water.

We spent 3 nights at the La Nutria campsite. Lidia and Ricardo are excellent hosts with heart and soul and their friendliness is hard to beat. The campsite is a green oasis of peace where you can relax and enjoy nature. We also very much appreciated the private bathroom, where you can take a hot shower at any time. The cafeteria serves excellent coffee beans, homemade cakes (the pie de lemon was absolutely fantastic) and the best churrasco sandwich we have ever eaten. We felt very comfortable and can recommend La Nutria 100%.

Three friends and I stopped in at Camping La Nutria in January 2024 during a road trip and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The location is spectacular, practically in the shadow of the glacier @ kilometer 20 along the Carretera Austral. Es un lugar precioso.

Ricardo and Lidia, the architects and hosts @ La Nutria, welcomed us in warmly, even as their supper rush hour was beginning. We arrived on a particularly rainy afternoon and Ricardo invited us to enjoy the shelter of the comedor (dining room) where we sipped the most flavorful artisanal juice of our entire drive: corinto & wild strawberry, served with local fruit tarts, all made in house with love.

When freed from his duties as waiter, Ricardo gave us the grand tour of the place, which includes a spacious and generously furnished refugio-quincho with running water, fireplace and gas stove for cooking and eating, private bathroom with piping hot water for each overnight party, and many potential campsites for tents. With care he directed us to a group of tent sites beneath the shelter of some dense foliage, where we hardly even needed the rain fly for our tents. He even provided a rake to sweep the forest floor (of animal droppings from his livestock) before setting up camp.

Fast internet vis Starlink! A total surprise.

This place is also a working farm and Ricardo built the entire campus, including the carved by chainsaw outdoor furniture and all the buildings. Truly impresionante.

Ricardo also speaks a bit of English, enough to manage if you don't speak much Spanish.

He also knows a lot about the local area - interpretive guide - Flora,
Fauna and scientific studies.

After just one single night's stay we felt like family.

Stumbled upon this place by accident. One of the best camping sites we stayed in during our 2 month trip. Superb food, great service, private bathroom for each camper, refuge with fireplace. Just superb on all counts!

Thank you Ricardo 😊

Lovely cafe run by a very friendly couple. Loved their natural fruit juice without sugar - especially the fruitilla one. Lemon and mint pie was also great!

Very quiet place, very friendly couple. We loved the sheep and poultry wandering around... We spent a couple delicious hours in this remote valley

Stayed two nights in late March.

The good:
1. Very friendly hosts. Really knowledgeable of the area and seem to enjoy sharing that knowledge.
2. Good for tents. Trees reduce the wind, decent amount of places to pitch.
3. Large kitchen/common area.
4. Hot showers, and the bathrooms and showers are all private per guest/group. Also they're clean and were generously cleaned every day we were there.
5. The location is excellent for trips on X-728. One of the furthest in the valley -- cuts down on 30-45 minutes of driving compared to staying in town.
6. Quiet at night.

The bad:
1. Showers are too small.
2. Kitchen/common area has a large fireplace that takes some unusually careful attention to fill building with smoke. Two large openings (presumably for smoke) prevent the building from heating up so it can feel cold even with a large hot fire going.

These are minor problems. If I'm on X-728 in the future, I will hope to stay here again.

Campground:
What an amazing place to stay at. Ricardo and his wife are lovely people. Ricardo loves to chat and share information about the area and give you tips for your ongoing journey. He even made fire for us in the kitchen which can be used by all campers and is great to hang out in cold and wet nights.

You'll get your own clean bathroom with hot water and all this for just 8.000/person

They also sell delicious dishes, homemade cakes, and proper coffee, so even if you don't need a place to stay make sure to stop for some food.

very cute cafe/camping with amazing typical Chilean home-made food - searching for the best churrasco and lemon pie? This is the place to go! The owner is a super friendly man who cooks and bakes from scratch in his kitchen.
He made us feel super welcome and at home, he also invited us to his place to eat breakfast with him. We came back 2 days later on the way back and he had already closed the cafe/Restaurant but he reopened it to make us some food. Definitely a place to visit.

The greatest place in Chili !!!
The owners are really friendly, they love to share with the tourist. You are really welcome in this place. If you are visiting Chili / Patagonia you have to stop on this place.
We stop in Puerto Rio Tranquilo to see the cathedral the next day, but we drive a little bit more just to sleep at Cafeteria La Nutria and it was worth it.
They also making really good Churrasco !!!

¡Deliciosos!
