A visit to the Food Basics at Yonge and Royal Orchard is always a pleasure. This store may be on the smaller side, but it punches above its weight in terms of organization and selection.

I find everything I need here as they are always well stocked.

You know....sometimes people have a bad word to say about food basics but I say "get your nose out of the air and learn how to shop". If you know how to pick what you need and what is on sale and why, then this is an excellent place to shop. I've gotten many great food items there for cheap simply because I don't judge a discounted steak right off the bat. I examine it, I spend time with it, ask it questions, try to get a sense of how it's being treated and whether I should bring it home to grill or call the proper authorities.

Food Basics is a chain owned by Metro. Relative to Metro, Food Basics tend to be cheap (low cost retailer). This is a very good location to purchase cheese/dairy/dry/packaged food. On the other hand, this location could improve the freshness of the fruit. If you are shopping for fruit/fish, this is not the best Food Basics location.

This food basics is way better than others in the area, they are small but friendly, they also have more cashiers than other locations nearby

Listened to a woman dispute a 2 dollar price difference between red and green grapes to a category cashier for 5 minutes. Would recommend.

Selection chips are the best.. less calories for more.. these days... it's always more.. so with chips.. being less.. why not
