Truly the best coffee I've had. It's amazing to see them roasting beans right there in house, it doesn't get any fresher than that. We had a latte and a flat white, and it was the best example of either I've ever tasted. Wish we were closer so we could go back every day!

Best combo of great coffee and baked goods on the Avalon. Mark and the team are great and the place is cool too. We regularly drive from St. John’s to visit (45 mins) — and the drive from town to Carbonear isn’t exactly a scenic one — so that should indicate how enjoyable Dark Star is.

Well worth the trip from St. John’s!

Delicious coffee (we had two piccoli), great baked goods (the chocolate ricotta cake was so good!), and super friendly vibe. We bought some beans for back home and will think fondly of this place when we drink the espresso.

Such a cute spot! The handmade pie was absolutely DELICIOUS. I could literally have it as my last meal and I’d die happy 😍 The cappuccino was packed with flavour and just hit the spot! 100% recommend

My favorite place to go every week! All the guys are so friendly, love the food and coffee and it's just a beautiful little spot with spectacular views. My favorite thing to get is a chai latte with oat milk.. delicious!

Was out shopping and decided to drop in to see what people were talking about. My wife and myself just ordered a cappuccino each.It was ready in a matter of minutes. We enjoyed the beverage and the person who served us was very friendly.

Beautiful space and excellent coffee. Went for the piccolo, they had a super chocolatey coffee from Brazil on espresso. The upstairs seating next to the roaster was super cool too!

Great atmosphere, current and cool without feeling pretentious. Friendly service with excellent coffee and baked goods too. Glad I came by! Also worth noting they use compostable packaging for their takeaway which is a nice touch.

Hand pie and bagel with cheese and tomatoes were simply delightful! Lattes, decadent and delish!

A lovely little spot on Water street. The owners are friendly and fabulous and the cappuccino was delicious. Not to mention the homemade treats.
