I had not only the best fish and chips of my life here, but also the best homemade cheesecake. Fish was so light and fresh and the cheesecake was to die for. We took extra slices home for family both times we went while visiting from out of town.

The server found out it was my first time in NL and very kindly offered to airdrop me her must-do/try destinations and restaurant at the end of our meal.

Five star all the way!!!

And perhaps saving the best for last, before leaving The Irish Loop, we revisited The Captain’s Table for dinner. In 2017 we ate here 2x’s on July 22 & 24th. It is that good.
Fried seafood is OK, but pan fried/sauteed is our preference.
Highly recommended, reservation advisable, very popular. In 2017, we just dropped in, sat in the corner booth, still there just like it was in 2017.😋👍👍

This was one of my favourite meals I've had in Newfoundland. The food was very tasty and the portions were very generous. I really liked the unpretentious feel of the restaurant.

So many gluten free options!! Things you wouldn't believe like onion rings, cod au gratin, fish and chips even the gravy and dressing are gluten free! Place was super cute and the staff were awesome.

A roadside restaurant with a ship-themed atmosphere and a menu to match.

There's lots of parking, plenty of tables inside, some outdoor seating on the patio, and clean washrooms.

We tried the 2 piece fish and chips, homemade onion rings, and fries. The food was very fresh and tasty! The service was quick and friendly too.

There aren't many items for vegetarians and vegans so it would be great to see the restaurant add a couple plant-based dishes.

Knew as soon as I walked in that this would be a fantastic spot. Atmosphere is beautiful, amazing decor and the story behind the name is a great read. Menu is fairly priced and the food is quick to come out. The fish and chips is award winning and it's easy to see why. A great spot to stop at on your way down the highway

Katie, Sam and Gen treated us to a great experience. My cod and shrimp special with mashed potatoes has taken over as my number one dinner on the island so far. My wife feels the same but maybe she is just referring to the bumbleberry pie that so obviously delighted her.

Amazing place. Sweet and speedy servers. I had the shrimp supper and my mom had the chowder. She said it was the best chowder she's had on island. My garlic shrimp were plentiful and delicious! We finished off with a slice of cheesecake (which are all made by the owners mum!). So happy we skipped Sailor's Galley for here, only 8 minutes down the road from our boat tour.

Wow! This place is amazing. The staff is so friendly and knowledgeable. Being able to have any (most) menu items in a gluten free option is so refreshing and stress free. The food was delicious. And dessert was even better! Will be visiting again!

Excellent fish and chips, great homemade deserts! Stellar service. Update: its been awhile since I last ate here.. Still excellent fish and chips, was really surprised to learn that virtually everything on their menu, minus the seafood chowder, is available as gluten-free! (yes, they use separate fryers!) Not an issue for me, but now I can recommend it to friends who are sensitive to gluten foods.

We had the Christmas eve brunch buffet. It was really good. Bacon, sausage and ham. Perfect Eggs over easy and scrambled eggs. Fried potatoes and delicious fish cakes along with toast and Croissant. They even had pancakes, syrup and fresh fruit to top them off 😋. And coffee or tea also came with it. Would go back again!! Thanks.

Awesome fish and chips place in the area. Bit pricey but makes up for their great tasting batter and tartar sauce. Staff was very friendly as well. I wish I took more pics to share but trust me I never forgot, just got busy eating my delicious meal :)

Went out for a drive today and stopped in for fish and chips. The cheese cake was delicious. We sat outside and enjoyed a fantastic meal. We had our little dog with us and they gave us a bowl for her water.

This one has been on my list for a while as I have always heard they have great fish n chips. Finally got to try it the other weekend when out for a drive to see an ice berg in Ferryland. Very nice atmosphere inside and the woman that served us was very friendly. Of course I ordered the fish chips and it did not disappoint! One of the pieces of fish I had was HUGE, it was falling off the plate. The batter was light and crispy and I really enjoyed the tartar sauce too. I would have liked to try some of the desserts, as the other reviews here say they are good. But I was too full! Next time I will save some room :)

What a gem. Stopped in on our return from La Manche and had a great meal! We ordered the bacon-wrapped scallops, chicken fingers and of course the fish and chips. They added an extra filet of cod because the one (pictured on left of plate) had shrunk a bit. What sweethearts! Everything was delicious, the restaurant is clean and super cute decor, and staff warm and friendly. Can't wait to come back!
