Castle Kilbride

What a wonderful hidden gem! This gorgeous home, built in 1877, and the history of the family, businesses and area was an enjoyable journey into our past. We spent over 2 hrs here, we came to see it decorated for Christmas, and it did not disappoint! We then went across the street to Baden Inn for late lunch, the Livingston Church, Fairmont Cemetery-where the family’s plots are, and a local cheese shop MountainOak, Well worth the day out!

This is a great day trip from Waterloo for history lovers! Loved learning about the stories of the castle, the family, and the intricate furniture and art. With a family member in a wheelchair, I was very impressed with how accessible this was. There was an elevator to two floors, wide ramps, and accessible bathrooms with large stalls and a handicap door button. The staff was incredibly knowledgeable answering our many questions about the history of the area and building, and very helpful with accommodations.

A lovely gem of a house! Happened to be in the area on holiday and was checking to see what local attractions were around when I stumbled upon Castle Kilbride. The museum is attached to the town's municipal office so there was plenty of parking when I went.

I was lucky to have the area to myself when I walked in early in the day and took my time to explore the history of the family and the stunning architecture! They also had a small exhibit showcasing the history of the local creamery in their upper floor at the time. I greatly enjoyed myself for an hour and thirty minutes.

When I went, the front grounds were coned off for maintenance so I couldn't take in the sight of the house exterior. Maybe another time!

Great historical building; unfortunately, did not have a chance to book the tour yet. Large parking at the back and a short educational walking loop with few Canadian Prime Ministers’ statues.

I highly recommend the guided tour! The kids and adults in our group loved it! Learning more about the Livingston family was so interesting.

Bought tickets ahead of time for the ghost walk. Was a neat experience to see the house after dark and hear some spooky history!

The castle was so beautiful and enchanting. The staff was welcoming, knowledgeable and fun to talk to. We went for the Christmas event, and it did not disappoint. Can't wait to visit again.Kudos to your staff for all the tidbits on things you would not know if they didn't tell you , it made the visit so much better.

Always a pleasure to go to Castle Kilbride. Staff are so friendly and welcoming. The place itself is one to be ventured. A great family stop.

A beautiful museum to visit! It's filled with plenty of artifacts, and a vast array of information. The architecture is also a sight to behold. To add, admission is very affordable and you'll spend about 1-2 hrs here. Staff are very friendly and are great sources of knowledge in regards to the castle. This is truly a gem close to home (25 mins away from KW). Highly recommend! P.S- It's also close to the Baden coffee company!

Really cool castle tour

We webt on a holiday tour. It was amazing! The details on display were fascinating. The tour guide gave just the right amount of explanation, and had the right instincts to be quiet and let us explore in peace when needed. Such a local treasure.
