Rosewood Studio

I recently returned from the “Excellence with Hand Tools” course at Rosewood Studio and can honestly say that it was the best woodworking course I have ever attended. The learning environment was second to none and the woodworking tools provided by the school were top-notch. The class size was small, which enabled a great teacher-student interaction, and the balance of theory and hands-on work was perfect. Also, the instructors and support staff were extremely friendly, knowledgeable and talented. I would definitely attend another course at Rosewood Studio.

Just did a five-day class at Rosewood. Well-structured class with top-notch tools and knowledgeable instructors. I am amazed my classmates of various woodworking experience all find the class fun and extremely helpful. Special thanks for the instructors' unbelievable kindness and patience for an absolute beginner. Highly recommend. (also Perth is such a lovely town, definitely worth a visit)

Amazing experience far exceeded my expectations. How little did I know I could learn so much in a caring, professional and kind environment. Ron is a Master of his craft and is eager to share his fine skills and knowledge with everyone. I simply had no idea how little I knew lol!

Just completed the chair making and design class with Garrett Hack. It was such an enjoyable and enlightening experience. I got so much one-on-one time with Garrett it almost felt like I was his apprentice for six days. In fact that's a feeling I've always had after completing a class at Rosewood, whether it be with a guest instructor or with Ron. Very knowledgeable instructors who encourage you to take the the time to do things right; That 's the Rosewood culture and for me it translates into a boost in confidence to try new projects/techniques with a feeling that my woodworking moved to the next level. I highly recommend Rosewood to anyone who wishes to further develop his/her woodworking abilities.

I'm a novice woodworker, and I've taken 3 1-week courses so far at Rosewood Studio focusing on hand tools (my preference). It's given me a lot of confidence to just get out there and make stuff; I'm now armed with a hand built shop stool, a dovetailed tool tote, and many tips and techniques (ask Ron about his hand saw parlour trick) about woodworking in general. I highly recommend it. The instructors are world class, very approachable, and can answer any question you have. You can bring your own tools or use the complete set of high quality tools included. The shop is extremely well equipped and orderly, and a delight to work in. Thank you Ron and Mary Anne for all of this.

For a 2 week course it was relatively expensive ($1,400). The teacher is very knowledgeable about wood working in particular furniture making. He would talk negatively about problem past students in particular the lady who bent his saw. One point that was lacking is that very few handouts were provided during the course. This required me to rush to copy down key points the instructor made. This course would be very beneficial to any individual with a passion for wood working. If you are not particularly interested in woodworking this course is not worth it for you to take.
