Great way to learn how the oil sand is being harvested. This free self guided tour let's you close-up look at some of the early equipment involved in the harvesting the oil sands. The massive machine gives you a glimpse into history of mining and how equipment has evolved with the changes in the technology.

Took my Mother and Friend to see the size of machinery as they are from eastern canada. Wanted them to get an idea about the oil sands. They were truly amazed with what the oil sands is all about. Take a nice drive out off town and 20 mins of looking to show your family what the oil sands is really about.

Went at night in the snow. As a mechanic towards the end of my career sitting there surrounded by huge equipment with the plant in the distance was incredible. Would suggest night viewing.

Very interesting to see the equipment that was used years ago versus the equipment that is currently being used!

Impressive machines! If you’re in the Fort McMurray area its worth the 20min drive to go see these monsters. Also while you’re there 2 minutes down the highway you can stop to see bisons! No tickets needed, just stop, park and have a look around

Very informative for those who don't know much about the oil fields and mining processes. Really neat to see old equipment and how the land is restored when mining projects are complete. I really recommend bringing nay-sayers here to show them facts and how incredible oil mining really is.

Excellent free museum that shows some huge equipment. Great for a quick trip if you're in the area. The signs are pretty informative but I left wanting to know a bit more about the whole operation and how those machines work.

Incredible to see the sheet scale of some of these machines, while these are no longer in use you can imagine what it was like when they were. I imagine the sound was deafening of a digger that big. Great write ups on the plaques that are explanatory and give valuable insights. It is a bit of a drive out of Fort McMurray I highly recommend a trip out for anyone visiting!

The closest some of us would ever get close to a giant equipment ever. Take advantage of it. Take photos next to the Gigantic blade and of course the bucket.

Great place to visit and see what they are doing to reclaim the environment. Tree huggers needs to see the number of trees are planted each year and deceptive information by radical environmentalists needs to stop.
