Such an amazing place! The train ride is a unique experience, absolutely a must. There are many animals to see in all other areas. The zoo is also an opportunity to see the striking and severe boreal forest up close. I also really appreciated the kids area with the water games and mini farm - it's a great place to have a picnic or an ice cream. There are also picnic tables (some with roofs) throughout the zoo, so it's easy to take a break. Overall, a must see in Lac Saint-Jean area.

This zoo is a kind of place where most of the time the visitors are in a cage and that's a good thing :) We enjoyed our ride with the train, seeing the animals sometimes up close, the scenery was amazing and the little description of life in Canada a couple of centuries back was interesting. In the zoo part probably we managed to see all animals, including the tiger, with the little exception the arctic fox. This was an afternoon very well spent! (Unfortunately we missed the feeding times).

It’s a best place to go!
Sunday 11am

Must do:
Take a train safari!
It’s 1 hour tour.
It was crowded.
We didn’t find a train schedule. We had came 12.20pm and took only 3nd train at 1.05pm.

Restaurant is good. View is perfect.
There is a salad bar but we took a hot meal.
2 different soups were good.
Burger and French fries where good too.
We took a casserole with potato and different meats like “Greek musaka” with salad. - Not very testy but acceptable.
2 free beverages.
About 60$ for 3 persons.

Adult ticket: 47,99$ *Time: 3-4hours
Thé zoo was an amazing experience, I high recommend that you go ealry and the first thing you do is the free train towards the end of the zoo first to start off since the ride highly Entertaining and enjoyable! You are meet with a train car that takes you on a 1hour ride around the whole back of the park to explore the beautiful free Roaming animals and breathtaking nature ! After that feel free to explore the rest of the part and take your time to read the info and observe the animals while doing so! One of the funniest zoo I’ve been in !
10/10 recommended

This zoo is simply put, amazing.
We saw every animal there was to see but one(grizzly bear) it was moved to make the acclimatation process of their new lynx easier.
You have to walk alot but that is expected of a zoo, there is wheelchair access everywhere so its young family friendly. I suggest finishing the zoo with the train ride (lasts around an hour).
Protip: some animals only come out during feeding times,so if you want to see cougars watch the time

This is probably the best zoo that we have ever been! The animals looked happy and enjoyable in here. Happy to see that they have been taken good care of! So many animals and in great shape! We loved everything! The train tour with so many bears, bisons, deers, prairie dogs, muskox, horses, and moose! The beaver 🦫 lodge, the polar bears, arctic fox, bald eagle 🦅, do very cool!! Enjoyed watching the bears being fed also!

Such a lovely place 💕. It's a big zoo . One can expect to spend a good 5 to 8 hours with family. The road train is a must do activity. It takes you through a mini safari and can see animals in their natural habitat. The bears were a sight to see and so big!.

Afterward we spent most of the time on foot exploring the zoo. The zoo is beautifully designed. The boardwalks criss cross around the animal enclosures so you can see tigers , monkeys , birds , camels , horses, polar bears in close vicinity. There is also a small animal petting Zoo , and water fountains great for kids!

Photographer TIP- Advise you bring a 100-400mm lens or any zoom lens , I got to take amazing shots in the train and on foot.

Enjoy!

The second time have been there. So much fun. I could see the polar bears this time. New animals and a few informative presentations with some the animals.
Loved the train part where we can see all the animals free in the park. This is one of the must to see places in Saguenay area.

I went to this zoo with my boyfriend. The signs were in French and English. And we got a poutine at the restaurant it was delicious!! The animals seemed very well taken care of and in the winter we were provided blankets on the train/vehicle ride. It was an amazing time! Definitely going back in the summer!

As far as animal is concerned, it was okay. It does have Polar bear, Grizzly bear, red panda etc.
Train ride is about an hr long. Too bad guidance only in French....

However, for a zoo, the Scenery is very beautiful.

We absolutely loved this zoo although we only saw a fraction of it. We were touring on a bus and we were the ones "caged" in.

The animals were roaming around. Living together in peaceful/calm/ respectfully. We saw bison, elk, bears and wolves (in secured areas).

Our guide was very knowledgeable and helpful. He patiently wait for us to get the prefect picture.

Make this a whole day or better yet, two-day tour.

The animals and their habitat wad beautiful and seamless.

The tortiere was so delicious and is licence so you can order a cold beer on a hot day.

Definitely, give it a resounding recommendation.

The zoo is very well organized, the habitats are beautiful and the personels are super great. The train is one of the highlight where you go around in a caged train and the animals are free to roam. There is water games for the kids when it get too hot. The Anima-Lumina show is a good addition to complete the day and show you the park in a night environment, which is fun.

This is a great kind of zoo. Their train ride lasts around an hour and is a great opportunity to see animals in their habitat. Kids loved it and so did the adults!

Great zoo! Expensive, but it’s for a good cause so it takes the sting off. Decent sized enclosures for the animals. It’ll never be as big as they truly need, but I’ve seen far worse. The highlight for me was the “train” ride, seeing the animals in a more natural habitat and the historical aspects.

It's the best zoo I've ever been to! The animals all look well & taken care of, the zoo itself was really big & there's a lot of that to do! I recommend doing the train (you're in a caged bus & animals are free around it) & watching out for when is the animals snack time. Snack time is your best chance of seeing all the different animals in action. The staff was really present & helpful. It's a pleasant all day activity for all ages

I am not particularly fan of zoos, but as we were on family vacations I tried that one, because they had wild zones where animals are free.

1/ Covid situation is pretty weel organized, markers everywhere to respect distances, paths indicated to avoid double circulation, employees guide you on the way, trains are made to embark and disembark safely (sanitized after each tour) and communication is great
!!! Covid situation: be careful to take enough water at the beginning as fountains are not available.

2/ Park is clean, and you find people almost everywhere to guide you and answer any questions frome "where is the bathroom?" to "where is the tiger?", bathroom available along the way, the one i tried was very clean. (Avoid going at the one before the train station it's crowded)

3/ Places for animals are large, with shadows, places far from tourists, fluent water source (artificial little rivers for example), so most of the time I didn't have the sad feeling you have in zoos with animal getting crazy in their little spaces. Why "most of the time" ? Because I think polar bears might not enjoy summer even with a large space and pool, and also mongolia sector was a bit lifeless >> These are the things I would improve first

4/ I really enjoyed the train tour, because this really is a huge place where animals kinda do what they want, so you might not see all of them all the time but hey it's life, and you have a lot to see, bisons, bears, wolves, cows, horses, groundhogs, wapitis, mooses, countless birds... The guide is experimented to go slower when they see something interesting. On top of that there are some place with human ancient reconstructed life, where you learn more about hunters, natives and inhabitants... Doesn't matter if you are on left or right in the train you will see a lot, and you are grouped with your family even during covid so no stress!

So many animals to see so little time. I wish the day was longer. Especially liked the nursery where i saw so many animal babies. Baby fox and skunk were too cute. Also the baby squirrel inside the incubator too cool for school. The stars of the place however were the red pandas. The mix between fox racoon and bear is rocking.
