Westcoast Fishing Adventures

The team of Gill, Mandi, Pierce and Bernie made our week-long steelhead boot camp trip a true adventure! The camaraderie of the team as well as the other client who joined our group of three promoted friendships and made the event a trip of a lifetime! Incredible surroundings, accommodations, and fishing was icing on the cake - in fact it was literally that, as Mandi drove a 6 hour round trip to camp to deliver a birthday cake for my son mid-week - how awesome is that? This was my first time to the Terrace, BC Area. I've had guided ocean fishing trips before but this was a completely new experience. Gill and Mandi's approach was very refreshing. Gill took me on a few different tributaries and offered advice and education about the amazing river system but also all the species we were fishing for. I genuinely appreciated his skills knowledge and sensitivity to the environment. He worked hard to help me find fish and we had great, fun with lots of laughter.

The lodge was really great, Mandi put on an amazing spread and we enjoyed good conversation. They made me feel like part of the family and I loved every minute of it. Just kind, down to earth people who share their love of the outdoors. I'm coming back with my wife next time.

This was a very special father/son trip and as much as we were hoping for it to be perfect.... it was even better that we could have hoped for.
We've had many fishing adventures in the past and travelled both in Canada and across the globe to some of the finest fishing destinations available (from remote lodges in Scotland, to the Queen Charlotte Islands, to Fernie, to Alaska, to Mexico and more) but this trip was one of our absolute best.
Gill and Mandi are thoughtful, genuine, passionate and very knowledgeable hosts. The lodgings and food was top notch, just perfect after a day on the river. The fishing... well, the fishing was the best we've ever experienced across 40-years of fishing trips.
Gill is an incredible guide, with a passion for customizing the experience for guests and doing everything he can to make every day on the river one to remember. I would HIGHLY recommend this trip to any angler. Whether it's an annual or a once in a lifetime trip. Put this on your bucket list! Thanks you Gill and Mandi!!!!!

We booked a few trips with Gil & Mandi this season. Both are down to earth and genuinely passionate about fishing and the great outdoors. We loved that they are committed to providing ethical guiding. Communication with them was always lightning fast. Gord was our guide both times we went out. He had expert angling knowledge and knew the river systems extremely well. The entire experience from start to end was fantastic! We can’t wait to come back and book again. The perfect week! The bootcamp is an experience of a life time. If you are even considering going; you must. The fishing is unparalleled! The guides are extremely patient and knowledgeable. I learned many thing about life, fishing, and being a man. I will never forget this experience. The chef is magnificent: eating 5 star food in the woods. Very attentive hosts and guides. Put me and the others in my group on many fresh chrome steelhead on the Kitimat Spring 2022. A very nice experience and the second time we have been there with them in Terrace BC. Very knowledgeable experts on all aspects of fishing including spey casting. Also very hospitable hosts. A memorable time on the river! We just used them as our guides in filming a recent episode of APTN's Moosemeat and Marmalade to be aired sometime in 2022...

My husband, daughter, and I were lucky enough to go on a charter with Gill on the Kitimat River. Never having gone river fishing we were made to feel completely at ease and had the best time. This was bucket list fishing. Would highly recommend this outfitter to anyone and everyone. Thank you for an amazing day, filled with so much fun and laughter. Late Aug 2022 Gill moved mountains to fit my family in for a float fishing trip on the Kitimat river. His brother Gord was our guide. Gord is an amazing man. He was so patient teaching my 8 and 10 year old daughters how to salmon fish. Watching how he was able to get them on the fish, teach them how to land fish and have fun all day long was priceless. Next time I’m in Terrace Gill at West coast Fishing adventures will be my first and only call.

I had an excellent experience with Mandi and Gill. Not only were they well seasoned and passionate anglers but the hospitality and lodge was second to none! After a productive day on the water you can kick your feet up, have a drink, and swap fishing stories over a beautiful meal.

Westcoast Fishing Adventures was a full experience with some great guides and great Company. Cant wait for my next adventure with them!

My husband and I stayed and fished 1 week in October at Westcoast Fishing
Adventures. What a trip. Never have we had a more gracious and accommodating hostess than Mandi. She went above and beyond making sure all our needs were taken care of. Gil is a fabulous, quick witted guide. Makes you feel so at home at the Lodge. Dakota was our guide for the week. Great guide. Always put us on the fish even though it was a slow week. Always good humored and smiling. It was a true fishing adventure. We fell in love with Maci and her chickens. If any wives want to fish with their significant others, this is the place to go. Don’t want to fish everyday?? Mandi will take you on a great adventure. Make sure this Lodge is on your “Bucket List” for 2020.

We had a great day with guide Gord! He was extremely skilled, patient and very passionate. He really wanted my boyfriend to catch a salmon and he did everything in his power to make this happen, we were delighted with the cafch. We loved hearing all of Gord's stories, he was very interesting and really friendly. I would highly recommend him to anyone. We had a fantastic and memorable day.

Great father and son fishing experience. Even though the rivers were overblown and in bad shape we were able to find lots of fish every day. Our guide Jake was fun to hang out with on the river, and had tons of local fishing knowledge to share.
We are definitely planning to come back and do it again next year.

I have been fishing with West coast Fishing Adventures and Gill McKean for over 10 years. There is no one I prefer to fish with in Northern British Columbia than Gill McKean. No one will work harder to put you on quality fish than Gill. Why go with second best? Craig, Anchorage, Alaska

If you want a monster steelie or coho on the swing, come here!! I have been fishing with WCFA since 1999! Back then, they were small and worked hard to get me into beautiful trout, salmon and steelhead on the fly. We fished hard, caught lots of amazing fish, ate well, slept well: it was so great a time, I have gone back once or twice a year, every year. and have watched them grow and diversify. Today Gill and Mandy and their guides operate from a first class residence/lodge minutes from the Skeena, where you will eat, drink and be very happy-- they have drift, jet, super jet boats(one is perfect for long excursions and overnights on the river or on the salt) and walk-ins to awesome fishing. Salt trips are awesome too-- whales, Orcas, and seals abound while fishing for tons of cohos, kings, pinks on fly and gear. Last year I was there in mid to later August fishing Skeena tribs, and caught a couple of hundred fresh sockeye, 50 or so huge chrome cohos, massive clean chums, and landed or lost over 2 dozen BIG steelhead. no lies. (they also guide Nas, Kitimat and many regions of Skeena) If you want to fish well, enjoy a family-like experience where friendships are forged around the dinner table and on the river, then try WCFA - a family run and hardworking outfit. Gil and West coast fishing adventures are your go to guides for any fishing experience in northern B. C. I have had many great trips for Steelhead and Salmon and Trout and learned many good fishing techniques. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a quality guided trip.
