People had complaints about this place with rule service on the internet. We did not experience those negative comments during our visit.

But I do agree about the pricey side. They do have out of season fruits as sides.

Would recommend coming in summer for the patio.

French toast
Homemade burger egg benny
2 special coffees

Total was around $70

Every dish is good and love having tea with friends n fam and spilling the tea lol love this place been coming here for about 4years now so happy it didn’t close when pandemic hit. Always feel energetic throughout the day after a healthy plate . Just need peppermint and more options for tea would be nice , and more variety of bagels, if u are coming here for the bagels and expect to be blown away, I recommend ‘CHONK’ because these are just bagels you can buy at any grocery store for a heads up. I wish the hashbrowns weren’t deep fried . So I chose not to eat them to avoid feeling gross later. But it’s good not bad at all.

Truly a charming and unique restaurant. Everything from the ambiance, the music and of course, the food.

A special place where I have made many sweet memories over breakfast and my favourite coffee on the menu, the melange.

It’s a place to enjoy your time in leisure, do not expect a quick experience. Put down your phone, browse one of the books along the windows sills, gaze dreamily out the window.

Love the cozy space! The service was very friendly. I got the prosciutto asparagus Benny on a cheddar bagel and it was absolutely amazing!! My partner got the smoked Turkey and cranberry sauce bagel platter and loved it as well.

The portions were great and the presentation was beautiful. Everything from the bagels, cream cheese, and spreads down to the whip cream in the coffee seams to be house made!

The prices are fairly high but you can really see the effort and care they put into their food. Highly recommend!

We have been coming here for so many years and still to this date, it is my favorite brunch/breakfast restaurant on earth! ♥ I even came here after my university graduation. With two full pages of eggs benedict choices alone, it's heaven on earth for all-day breakfast lovers. And the service is always friendly and welcoming.

I love everything about this place. The food. The service. The fact that this place is cash only is the best part. It's a beautiful venue and easy to get to. I love it

Nestled conveniently one block from the heart of Edmonton's trendy Whyte Ave, New York Bagel Cafe welcomes diners to a brunch haven that's as comforting as it is satisfying. Our recent group outing to this breakfast gem left us with taste buds dancing and bellies content, but not without a few quirks along the way.

Situated in the midst of Edmonton's vibrant Old Strathcona neighborhood, New York Bagel Cafe's location is a definite win. The proximity to the Strathcona Farmers Market adds a charming touch, reflecting the cafe's commitment to locally sourced ingredients. The interior channels an eclectic, old-world charm that takes you back to breakfast at grandma's, creating an atmosphere that's perfect for leisurely mornings.

The plates here are large, ensuring that a single order is often more than enough to satisfy even the heartiest of appetites. In fact, many dishes are generously portioned for sharing, fostering a communal dining experience that's perfect for couples and groups.

New York Bagel Cafe is a breakfast and brunch spot with a menu that boasts a tempting array of choices, from classic breakfast staples to inventive twists. Whether you're looking to indulge in a sweet delight like French toast or seeking a more savory option such as our choice, the grilled tomato and avocado with pickled jalapeno pepper eggs benedict, there's something for everyone's taste.

An enchanting highlight of the cafe is the assortment of teas served in adorable china tea cups. This quaint touch adds a touch of sophistication to the brunch experience.

The food at New York Bagel Cafe is undoubtedly its shining star. Each dish is a work of culinary artistry, thoughtfully composed, and beautifully presented with a commitment to quality.

However, a note of caution for those in a hurry: the service here does lean towards the leisurely side. While the dishes are worth the wait, this might not be the spot for those on a tight schedule.

It's worth mentioning that New York Bagel Cafe has a strict policy on substitutions. While this may disappoint some, the inventive menu options are likely to offer something delightful regardless.

New York Bagel Cafe shines as a brunch destination that embraces the essence of leisurely mornings. With its flavorful offerings, generously portioned plates for sharing, and charming atmosphere, it's a delightful spot to gather with friends or loved ones for a relaxing meal. So, if you're looking to savor the morning, check out New York Bagel Cafe.

Cozy atmosphere on a cold day. Very friendly service and delicious food.
We had the lox and cream cheese bagel. The potato salad that came with it was very tasty and a nice complement to the dish. Coffee was very good. Prices were steep but we will definitely be back.

a great place for a warm, home cooked breakfast. Start with their house coffee with steam milk on the side. The Bennies on bagels is a must! my fav bagel is the cheddar. always gracious with a side of fruit

Sure it's overpriced but it is a high end breakfast place and the food IS good. It's beautifully presented and the environment is fantastic. The menu is one of a kind for Edmonton. If you want a cheap breakfast restaurant go to Denny's. I appreciate this eclectic place with unique options.

Hands down the best brunch in Edmonton. Prices are slightly higher than most other brunch places but 1000% worth it the portions are huge everything is fresh and tastes absolutely amazing. I’ve been to so many brunch places in Edmonton and this is unbeatable. If you're visiting or live in Yeg and haven’t yet tried it you need to try! As amazing as the food is the atmosphere and service is right up there!

I visited at lunchtime.
There were a lot of people and we sat at the entrance.
They gave me two menus.
One had a brunch menu and the other had a bagel menu.
I thought about it and ordered Salami with Cream Cheese and kiwi fruit Bagel platters.
It was an excellent choice.😆😆
Best bagels I've ever had in Edmonton!👍
I will visit again next time.❤❤❤

If Google had ten stars this place would get all of them. The food, the vibe and the service are all wonderful. In fact, if you lived in New York it would be worth moving to Edmonton just to be closer to the New York Bagel Cafe. Get the Limburger and grilled apple eggs Benedict.

My family and I love coming here! We have been attending this restaurant for over 30 years. We come for special occasions and are always delighted with the quality and presentation of the food. Sometimes the food takes time to come so order the house coffee to enjoy while you wait!

My all time fav brunch in Edmonton! Good food presentation, unique east European( I think?) and antique ambience, tasty and fresh food! Love chatting with the owner, a senior couple who has been running this bistro since the 80s! However, if you are in a hurry or have other plans afterwards, better be prepared that the waiting time would be long. But if you just want to wander around and pass time on a lazy day, you won’t regret resting your feet and treating yourself here!

Beautiful interior decor, great vibes, and amazing service. The servers are very attentive and nice. The food portions are large, the cost of the food is more than justified by the eclectic selection. The fruit included with the dishes are super fresh and sweet.

My favourite part of the restaurant is their cafe options. The Cafe Borgia is an absolutely delicious drink. I wish they had a separate cafe from the restaurant.

Had to wait a bit for the food but apparently the chef makes everything by hand. Quality was amazing, fruit salad was top notch

Super experience. Cheerful Euro feel. Waitress was pleasant and helpful. Rosé was smoothest I’ve had in a long time and reasonably priced. Best eggs Benny I’ve ever had. Got the Basilico, on pumpernickel - flavours for days. My wife ordered the soup - it was a culinary delight, with bananas and cinnamon. Would be back in a heartbeat.

came in for a late brunch with my boyfriend after seeing the reviews on TikTok. The server mentioned that the usual waitress is away so he (the owner i presume) took care of us. not only was he extremely courteous and attentive, the food was amazing. we came in a little late and he let us stay about 45 minutes after close to enjoy the sun on the patio. we each got a benedict and it was seriously one of the best i’ve ever tried. nothing is mass produced and i think the price is quite fair considering all the ingredients are fresh and the food is obviously made with love. beautiful patio, ambiance and amazing service. would recommend anyone to try it out.
