The Trace at Oak Lake

Stayed in a one bedroom cabin, facing the water, beautiful landscape and views overall. Cottage was clean, spacious and had all the amenities needed . The lake was pristine , Muskoka has nothing on this gem of a resort.

Will definitely return .

Had a marvellous time! Location was amazing and they had great offerings (saunas, hot tub, tea room, cold dips). Everyone was very lovely. The lighting in the rooms was a bit bright but otherwise everything was superb. Overall 5* experience.

The cottages at The Trace are gorgeous and the views are stunning. We were also very impressed by the service which was top notch. We will definitely be back!

We stayed during Fall this year.. the cottage was clean and everything was provided.. the facilities were all available and the emergency store was amazing for last minute forgotten stuff. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants a great getaway.

We had a fantastic time at The Trace on Oak Lake. Great weather, water was very nice. Our little guy enjoyed himself, though he was not happy on his first swim. Really enjoyed the cold plunge tub and sauna. My wife enjoyed the whole experience. Campfire in our own firepit each night. Can't wait to come back next year.

I’m a wedding photographer, and I documented a wedding at The Trace a couple weeks ago! The whole day was a dream - beautiful location, cabins and everyone was so helpful making sure everything was going well!

Just spent 3 nights at The Trace and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. Tom and Erin are amazing hosts and the property is beautiful and well maintained. The lake views are incredible and the amenities plentiful. My husband and I enjoyed the newly renovated cottage and the many seating areas located throughout the property. Pet friendly and therapeutic... it is a must visit. We will be back and will be recommending this hidden gem to family, friends and colleagues.

We recently had an incredible four day stay at The Trace! Excellent location, fabulous lake, well-kept property, and a very tranquil place to getaway for a few days. We paddled the lake, walked some trails, and relaxed around a campfire every evening. Kudos to Tom & Erin, our fantastic hosts who go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need sink into a true haven. We cannot wait to book an extended stay next summer when it will warm enough to get into that stunning lake. See you next year!!!

We had a wonderful time. Our cottage was cozy and comfortable. It was the perfect home away from home. Spending time on the lake was the highlight of our trip, is was a beautiful setting for swimming, kayaking and paddle boarding, the water was crystal clear, quiet and peaceful. Tom and Erin were amazing hosts, we loved how friendly and welcoming they were. They made our stay extra special. We are definitely coming back near summer.

My partner and I took our rescue pup for her first vacation here. It was a great getaway. Nice stay in cabin 4. Stocked with all the basics you need. Loved all the things to do, both water and land games. We took the dog on the pedal boat, it was a blast! Will be coming back for sure! Thanks for having us!

Friendly welcoming environment with great staff. Stayed in cabin 3 which was very clean updated and had everything we needed. The grounds were so organized and tidy. The lake was awesome very accessible for swimming and the use of water toys. Lots of communal space on the grounds- fire pits, bbq’s, games, docks and water toys. 100% recommend! Pro tip: bring a tube for the lake and newspaper for your fire pit :)

The Trace is a gorgeous piece of property on a peninsula surrounded by oak lake — effectively an island you can drive to. The views of the lake and other properties across the water are beautiful, the ideal Kawarthas getaway. Hot tub, sauna, fire pits, stunningly renovated cabins that combine simplicity and elegance make it sort of beyond what you think of when you imagine an ideal lakeside cottage/resort. We where there in the late fall with turning leaves and even light snow at night so water sports weren’t our thing, but well supplied with lakefront and canoes it’d be an ideal summer getaway. (But crisp air and warm bonfires make it an autumn paradise too.)

We had an absolutely amazing weekend at the Trace! The accommodations are lovely, the view is mesmerizing and the memories made are priceless! The owners, Tom and Erin, made our experience so comfortable and inviting. Our group had fun out kayaking/canoeing on the lake and enjoyed the communal bbq/fire pit. If you want a lake side weekend away from the hustle of the city or just want some relaxation away from the kids, this is where you need to stay! We can’t wait to visit again next summer!

I have now stayed at The Trace two times and it never disappoints! The staff is so down to earth and personable, the lake is great for swimming and the grounds are just absolutely beautiful with so many cute little touches. I will definitely be back again, I'd highly recommend The Trace for anyone looking for that much needed getaway.

The owners Tom and Erin are fantastic. They made our stay incredible! My partner and I had an amazing experience. We stayed in one of the cabins. It was large and newly renovated. It was equipt with everything we needed. The bed was great. Not to soft or firm good sleep. Very quiet place. Lots to do at The Trace. Canoeing, hiking, swimming, campfires... would recommend anyone who likes nature.

We had an amazing weekend here. Weather said thunder all weekend and we lucked out with not a drop of rain and more sun then we could ask for. Erin & Tom are wonderful hosts and also super relaxed. Not a laundry list of rules like many cottages I stay at. The sauna is by far my favourite part. Get your sweat on and then jump in the fresh cooling lake. Repeat. The temp drop at night keeps it cool in the rooms and then they even have YOGA in the morning! Amazing. Can't wait to make this a yearly event. They also have 2 family weeks per year, so I plan on returning with my daughter. Thank you for an amazingly fun weekend!

What a gem! This place is a well kept secret. Only 2 hours from downtown Toronto. It was an easy drive. A warm welcome from the owners followed by a quick tour of the amenities for what the property offers. Lots of chaises by the lake to watch the sunrise. They offer yoga too!!! The lake is super clean and quiet since it’s private access only. Lots of games too in a big open area. There’s an awesome floating dock for sun bathing an outdoor sauna or enjoy the stillness of the lake via canoe. The Personal bbq at each cabin is a nice touch. Rooms were fresh and clean and have everything you need whether a weekend or a week stay. Will definitely refer to friends.

This is a really nice place to slow down, relax and experience nature.

We were in Cabin #8, which came with a hot tub and a fantastic view out to the lake while you are sitting in it. #8 appears to be recently renovated and it is very nicely appointed...I'd call the style "modern cottage". The bed was VERY comfortable.

They look to be doing work on all the cottages and the work they are doing looks nice.

There are water craft that you can take out, free of charge and if you want to rent a motorboat, they have a couple of those available as well.

We had a great time and look forward to returning sometime in the future.

Stunning location and clean and beautifully designed cottages. Sauna and free access to kayaks and other water crafts is amazing. Water is warm and nicely maintained. I love how each cottage has a private dock and deck. Complimentary drinks at check in were such a nice gesture! Our stay went above and beyond what we imagined. Complimentary fire wood warmed our hearts and souls. Free yoga in the morning was unforgettable and your kindness and hospitality shall remain with us until next summer !
