We went for our 9th wedding anniversary and we are thinking of making this a tradition. The food was absolutely delicious, not one thing disappointed. My husband got the table d'hote that included a starter and main, I got from the market menu which included a potage, starter, main, cheese plate, dessert, and chocolates. The wine list had many options for different budgets and the cocktail list was quite extensive and well priced.
The service was great, very friendly staff, they fully explained each part of the menu, came often to refill water and wine and to offer more warm bread.
If you're looking for a place with a vibe, this is not it, if you want quaint, cozy, homey, and to be able to talk with your person/people this is a wonderful gem to discover.
The only negative is that when you walk in the restaurant it smells like musty old carpet, but we are having a very hot/humid summer and you don't notice it anymore once the food starts coming out.
Overall an amazing place and would highly recommend.

One of my all time favorite restaurants off island. The food is always delicious, the wine isn't overpriced and the service is second to none. A little pricey, but you get what you pay for. They are also a chocolate maker, so the complimentary chocolates with an expresso is the best.
The restaurant is always in demand, so reservations are a must.
The decor is country farmhouse with a nice fireplace, so pretty awesome on a winters day.
Again, a little pricey, but at the end of the day, worth it.

Best food on our entire Quebec trip! Very tasty seed filled gf bread too. Service was perfection.

I have been going to this restaurant on and off for about 30 years. It is a wonderful experience every time, with top notch creative and local food, made with care by the hard working family of owners. Not cheap but quality through and through so you get what you pay for. Always happy to support local, and especially these people who have weathered significant hardship over the years and keep bringing us incredible food and service with a smile.

Excellent fine dining and service for remarkably reasonable prices. Very warm, intimate atmosphere off the beaten trail. The restaurant is nestled in the woods and the dining room has large windows so you can watch nature as you enjoy some very fine dining.

The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable about everything on their menu, and the menu is very flexible when it comes to ordering. They also have a good wine list with reasonable markups.

All in all, a top notch experience was had. Will return.

Lived literally 5 minutes walk from here for over 20 years and never ate here. Wow. Why do I drive 30 minutes away to eat when I can eat 5 minutes away by foot and get really awesome food? Everything was amazing. The service. The food. The drinks. Everything was superb.

French cuisine with very tasty meal.
Price wise it on the more expensive side too pricey to be honest.
It worth trying at least one.
If you like chocolate, the gentleman that own the Restaurant is a master chocolater.
You cant even buy some before you leave the restaurant.

The restaurant is magnificent, the staff is 5 star and the food is exquisite.
I am a regular and have shared this little jewel of a restaurant with my family, friends and business associates.

This restaurant is a little hidden gem and well worth the trip. Everything is prepared with love! Quality homemade chocolates are available to purchase on site. Looking forward to our next visit!

We had a family party that exceeded our expectations. Gracious and professional.

French restaurant and is not because he was founded by 2 lovely french people but because "la Maison des Défricheurs" can compete with any french restaurant in Québec and Canada. The Food is exceptional. And the chocolate section is an island of delight. The restaurant is located is a beautiful region not far from Rigaud.

Tasty food, great presentation, courteous service, quaint ambiance. Good choice for that special occassion.

Have been here twice; excellent food and artisan chocolates. Good wine list. Will be back for sure :)
