We went to celebrate our marriage anniversary and it was the perfect choice. Starting with the service, the host told us a bit about the restaurant history (btw this place is an institution) he gave us amazing wines recommendations and he was very friendly and empathic all the time. The place is a restaurant inside a house, cozy and warm perfect to have a date.

Food was incredible, they make an effort to buy local and high quality supplies which makes it more special. Everything was very tasty and delicious. Definitely I will come again.

On Grand Prix weekend we looked outside Montreal to find a great restaurant and we were able to find a table through their app even within three hours of table time. The neighbourhood is picturesque and the house is tucked back from a pretty public square. Walking up we knew this was going to be a great experience and confirmed even more so as we walked in and greeted by the staff. The service was excellent and all the staff was very patient and kind to translate. Taking a picture with Google also quickly translated the menu. The service was timely and we never felt rushed. We choose the multi course menu with wine pairings. Expensive but worth the experience because we got to try four beautiful wines paired with all the courses. I lost count honestly but they were all made and presented to perfection. All the roast vegetables burst with flavour and the meats, shellfish, sauces and deserts were fabulous. If you want a culinary treat Le Mitoyen is a great choice!

A Culinary Extravaganza in French Delights!

Our recent dining experience at this exquisite French cuisine establishment left us utterly delighted and gratified. We embarked on a gastronomic journey like no other, indulging in the finest offerings of the menu. From the moment we stepped foot into the restaurant, we were enchanted by the elegant ambiance and warm hospitality.

The highlight of our meal was undoubtedly the prime rib, a succulent masterpiece that weighed a generous 32 ounces. Cooked to perfection, the meat was tender and juicy, melting in our mouths with every savory bite. The blend of herbs and spices infused in the prime rib added a remarkable depth of flavor that left us craving for more.

To complement our meaty indulgence, we decided to savor a magnificent lobster dish, which turned out to be nothing short of culinary art. The lobster was flawlessly cooked, boasting sweet and delicate flesh that was simply divine. Each morsel evoked a sense of luxury that we relished with every passing second.

Not only did the flavors tantalize our taste buds, but the presentation of the dishes was a feast for the eyes as well. The plating was immaculate, and every element on the plate was arranged with precision and creativity. We found ourselves marveling at the artistry that went into every dish, appreciating the attention to detail that elevated the entire dining experience.

Accompanying our main courses were a delightful array of vegetables, which served as a refreshing and wholesome addition to our meal. Freshly harvested and expertly cooked, they complemented the main dishes harmoniously, enhancing the overall symphony of flavors on our palates.

Our visit to this French cuisine haven was nothing short of extraordinary. The 32-ounce prime rib and the delectable lobster, coupled with the delightful vegetable medley, created a meal that we'll fondly remember for years to come. Great food, great service and great night. The ambience is cozy and you really feel at home in this little house full of history. We had table near the fireplace and it definitely added to the experience. Everything was good, the fish cakes are a must try. They also have a stout beer ice cream. I mean what else do you want.

PROS
- The food !
- The desserts, especially the chocolate mousse and the chocolate squares;
- The ambiance (including the fireplace);
- The service and the staff.

CONS
- Not an impressive list of Whisky nor Cognac;
- The tables in the smaller rooms feels impersonal.

The location, environment and food was fantastic. Such a cozy place to have a delicious meal. For me the service from the minute upon entering really set this place apart. Every staff member greeted us with a smile, was extremely friendly and helpful. In particular Nelson, the head sommelier and our server. Warm, informative and really fantastic wines paired with every dish. To me he is the epitome of what a good host is. I was also really impressed with the wine list itself not just displaying French wines but a nice diversity and in particular well priced wines, at a wide price range- which is rare now-a-days. Highly recommend, thank you Nelson and the whole staff for a great night.

We were a group of 4 to celebrate friend birthday, my first experience, and I was amazed with the quality of the foods, excellent services, and warm ambient. We are looking for the next group party and for sure that we'll recommend it to our friends.

Such a charming restaurant, feels like something out of a Christmas movie. The food was incredible, not one of the 7 dishes we tried was anything less than amazing. The dishes were complex in flavour and ingredients without ever being offensive. The highlight of our evening was Patrick, a generous and kind host with an obvious passion for his work. His love for his team and the menu was so obvious and he guided us through the menu with such enthusiasm that I felt like I sampled every item on that menu. Will be back!

The restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful. Nice atmosphere, rustic and cozy. We go the tasting menu with wine pairing and it was phenomenal. Each dish tasted amazing. We were served by Nelson. Probably the best service I ever got at a restaurant. He took his time explaining every single dish we got in the tasting menu as well as the wine. Was very patient, expressive and pleasant to talk to. He really spoiled us and at the end gave us a tour of the restaurant and information about the history of the place. Honestly highly recommend. Its a place more for an older crowd but I'll still go back.

Simply amazing. Situated in a lovely detached house in a quite neighborhood of Laval, Le Mitoyen serves unpretentious French classics with fresh and local ingredients. Every dish we ordered was excellent, but the foie gras, scallops and lambs were highlights of the nights. Service was very warm and attentive. Do allow time to dine here since everything was cooked fresh and it can get very busy.

French cuisine at it's best. The service was excellent, with friendly and courteous staff. The food was delicious and the ambiance perfect for a romantic evening. Thank you for an amazing experience during our first anniversary.

I have passed by this little restaurant about a thousand times, and never went in. We decided to made a reservation for this past Saturday evening.

Best Decision we have made in a long time.
The Service , Ambiance, and last but not least, The Food was Excellent.

They have a great wine selection. And a sommelier who knows his craft.

If you have a desire to visit a really Great Dining Out experience in Laval , this should be your choice.

The veal was done to perfection, the Beet Salad was to die for.

Service was very good.

The only thing lacking ? The coffee was tepid, not hot,and kind of bland. ( surprised)

We were a group of 8 that all opted for the 5 service "degustation" menu with wine pairing except one of the guests. The fact that if was a Tuesday likely contributed to the extra personalized service.
The dishes rolled out with perfect interval. Very flavourful and nice assortment of local foods.
Quaint terrace in front of the restaurant looking onto the square which had a public piano playing. Provided an extra unexpected ambience to the whole dining experience.

Awesome cozy restaurant with warming atmosphere especially with its fireplace. Calm vibe so you can have a conversation. the staff is awesome, let you take your time and enjoy the night as the table is booked for the whole night: no pressure.
the Risotto and Escalope de foie gras are great starters. For meat lovers, the main dish can be a wide selection, went with the: filet mignon de veau which is served with ravioli stuffed with foie gras and the Carre d'agneau that comes with a puree smashed with agneau inside it. love it and will definitely come back.

An excellent exhibition of Quebec ingredients and equally excellent (bilingual) service. It was exactly what I was looking for when I wanted an authentically Quebec experience

So first of all we were at the table of 4 like referenced in the negative review from Biana. Everyone else had a stellar meal and the service was exceptional. We've asked her to remove the completely unfair review but so far it's still up so we felt no choice but to leave a review of our own.

This is not the first time we invited her someplace and although everyone else had a great experience she ordered something she didn't like. Let me put it in perspective. The wagu steak was a luxury item more than 3 times the price of everything else on the menu. If u order something like that you take the chance to see if you like it and if it's worth doing for you again. As stated in review it was OK so essentially just It was not matching HER expectations.

In this case the rest of us feel it was a case of buyers remorse. Imagine being the waiter and someone makes a scene perhaps even in an attempt to return a very expensive meal that simply one person doesn't like. Sure if you don't like a $30-40 meal you can do that.. bring me something different please.. this is not to my liking.. but no you can't do that with a $140+ wagu steak. If YOU don't like it tough. Don't order it next time.

The waiter otherwise was perfect and we felt very welcome as he was personable and attentive. There was just nothing he could do about Biana in that situation.

We do not support that review and since we brought her there we feel responsible and apologize for putting the restaurant in this position. Not only was our fantastic meal partially ruined by her attitude (premature departure) and subsequent review (which came in while we were still at the restaurant), but now a fantastic restaurant and great waiter has been defamed unfairly.

Please pay no attention to that review and come see for yourself. It's a great restaurant and other people agree with us in countless reviews! Again.. We've asked her to reconsider her stance but, that failing, perhaps it's best that we simply not include her from now on in our restaurant adventures.

Deserve it's 4 diamonds rating. Was happy to find this local restaurant offering quality dishes.

Hats off to Nelson for providing us with exceptional service and excellent wine recommendations! I would highly recommend this establishment if you enjoy classic French cuisine as the seafood, duck & lamb dishes stood out. Ice cream flavors were also unique and impactful.
