The battery needed to be boosted before the test drive and looked rusty, my husband and I asked the owner about it a few times and he said he would make sure it held a charge or else replace it. He mentioned replacing it with a used battery for free if it happened once we got it home as well but never offered to run a battery test on it. He also promised us two keys would come with it. After the deal was done he advised us there was only one key and offered nothing to compensate despite the fact that we paid the full sticker price as he would give us no further discount. We also discovered after buying it that the tires are unsafe and need to be replaced despite questing him about those as well. Less than two months later the battery dies, CAA ran a test on it and gave us a printout of the results which stated it needed to be replaced. We called him right away and he refused to do anything for us claiming we couldn't prove it was like that when we bought it and we had no warranty. I am positive he knew there were battery issues and about the tires as well but played dumb on both fronts. As inexperienced car buyers we trusted him and now feel that we were taken advantage of. I wouldn't have minded the extras the vehicle needed if he had been honest about it up front, instead I feel he was willing to say anything to make a sale. Out of principle it would be nice to at least have the battery replaced, but it looks like that will be coming out of our pockets. Now I know where the "used car dealer" stereotype comes from.
