Ganong has a long family history dating back to mid 1800s. This family operated business still runs today in St Stephen, New Brunswick. It has been through a few fires and over 14 expansions over the years. They still offer hand dipped chocolates as well as factory made candies and chocolates. The museum offers tours to learn the history of the cacao bean dating back to Montezuma and how it's gathered and used today around the world. We enjoyed the museum, food tastings, and the chocolate shop after the tour. There are plenty of options to create the perfect souvenir for yourself and/or family back home. Enjoy!!

What a fun and informative tour. The full tour takes around an hour and you should check the times in advance or you may have to wait. I waited, but there is plenty to see around the museum, so it didn't matter.

Our tour guide was great and had so many interesting facts about the history of the company and its founders. Well worth the visit.

I haven’t been in a few years but this has to be one of my favourite places to go when I visit NB. Every time I feel like I learn something new and get to try some amazing sweets. It holds a very special place in my heart. As well it was my late grandmother’s favourite place to take people. She loved sweets and loved the joy it brought to others.

The Chocolate Museum is open from 10 am to 4 pm. Adult pricing costs $12.

Fun and informative tour. History about chocolate and history of the Ganong family's business. The tour guide Judy knows alot of information and made the tour fun and interesting. She's also very pleasant to talk to.

During the tour, we got to try some chocolates and candies. And at the very end, we got to see artisan chocolates being made by hand dippers and the people you made the filling for the chocolates.

Would recommend doing the tour.

There's also the Ganong Chocolate store upfront, where you can buy their products - chocolates and candies, such as their artisan made and factory made chocolates.

The tour guide was kind, helpful, and informed. She was able to answer all our groups questions and she new little inside stories about the Ganong family. I learned some things about the history of chocolate, the Ganong family, and some of the history of New Brunswick. Lovely tour, and we got a 15% discount in the Chocolate shop after the tour. DELICIOUS! there were free samples during and after the tour. Amazing flavor and consistency. So neat to learn and discover.

If your interested in the history of things you should visit. Your greeted by very friendly staff & begin the tour with a yummy chocolate. They tell very interesting stories about the Ganong family. Throughout the tour samples are handed out. They show videos of the factory and processes. Very fun and well done.

We went here on our last day of vacation 3 weeks ago.

We were expecting a history lesson on how this chocolate company has made their name, and we certainly were not disappointed. Our guide was very knowledgeable, and in fact, her father actually worked at the factory.

We saw a lot of great artifacts of the old museum, even though it had burnt down a few times. We learnt about some strange habits of the older founders, like the fact that one of them use to eat 83 LBS of chocolate every day, and he passed away at 83 years old.

We then went and watch the hand dippers in there special room, which was really cool to see, a specialty that doesn't exist in very many places anymore.

Of course, what's the point to go to a chocolate museum, without getting any chocolate. Once the tour was finished, we headed straight to the store that is in the front of the factory.

This cute little door greats you as you walk in. It feels old, which is awesome. It really makes you think how it would have looked 50+ years ago.

Next time I'm in St. Stephen, I will certainly stop by the chocolate store again. Until next time.

Awesome tour. Such an amazing place with so much history. I wasn't expecting it to be as much as it was. Tottaly worth the $10 entry fee.

Take the tour and learn the history of the Canadian chocolate industry and one of their largest manufacturers. View the few staff members who still hand dip chocolate by hand which are only sold in the connecting shop. Samples are provided during the tour, with many flavors of chocolatr to try. I recall eating 5 pieces, plus trying nibs. The tour guide still tried to offer more. View the museum with the tour and then go back to read and learn more, but don't forget to visit the shop to grab a supply to bring home.

Informative tour learning about the Ganong family and their story. We went on the weekend so didn't see the hand dippers who still work there today.

Very interesting history of the Ganong chocolate factory. Judy was a great tour guide. The process of the handmade chocolates and the nearly lost art of it is amazing. Worth the the trip if you're in the area.

We really enjoyed our time here! The samples were yummy, & the story of Ganong Chocolates was fascinating, even to the risk of fire from the ovens and the fire doors mounted on a sloped rail & held open by lead weights on a rope so that the lead would melt & the doors close in a fire. Margaret, who had gone to work at the factory in the "chicken legs" room after retiring, told engaging stories that brought you into Ganong's Chocolates' long history. Pay close attention to the door with the combination lock at the tour's end — open it & get a selfie then go to the front desk for your prize! 😁

Arrived during the off season, I think. (Late October)The timing worked out great, the door was locked when we arrived, but the tour guide saw us and let us in.

We didn't book a tour, but Maurice was more than happy to guide us though the museum.

Maurice was very knowledgeable, and shared first hand stories about the Ganong family, and the workers.
Learned lots about the history of the company, and the town of Saint Stephen.

I really enjoyed the old video showing the workers from time gone by. Especially when they name the workers in the video.

It was a nice surprise to get a couple chicken bones, and chocolates at the end.
