Washrooms are well maintained, host was really nice. There is water. No electricity, hiking trail is 4 hours. Woke up at 6 in the morning to get good pictures.

A bit tough to navigate the last 45 minutes of the road, but it is so worth it! The sites are mostly very private. The beach is large, water is clean, lake is massive! There are dozens of islands to dock at. Gorgeous bedrock everywhere to rest on. Spectacular.

Great place! Nice hike and beautiful campground.

It sucks to get there because of the road, about 52km gravel, but worth the drive.

Loved this campground! Great sandy beach and a beautiful view from the campsites that overlook the lake. The sites are spread out among the hilly bedrock and is is incredibly scenic. Great for canoeing, fishing, and hiking.

Great sites, helpful camp lady, clean. Bring extra wood, the jack pine they give you is bone dry and only good for an hour or so.

The hosts of this campground are very friendly and helpful. The washrooms are clean. The trail by the lake was scenic and before you reach the end you will see this beautiful stream where you can relax and enjoy your packed lunch. The trail is clearly marked by orange tape and small Inukshuk structures so you won't get lost. You will do some climbing so be sure to wear proper shoes and avoid wearing shorts as there are a lot of scratchy shrubs. The trail is 9km so pack enough water. There is also a beach by the campground if you are not into hiking.

Had a great weekend here. Large sites. Free bag of wood per night and cheap to buy more. Will go back!

Absolutely amazing experience camping here. Staff were very friendly and gave us some great tips. The campground is beautiful and maintained so well. We booked another stay while we were there as we were so impressed and look forward to coming back many many times.

Visited for the first time this year and I loved it! Yes there were flies and mosquitoes but we had a dining tent so we did fine. The bugs disappeared in the heat of the day. The lake and surroundings are beautiful

I've been going to this campground for almost 20 years. Missing 1 or two years. This year has been the worst but it wasn't entirely the fault of the people taking care of it. It's a beautiful lake, great fishing, awesome hiking, the beach is good, all that fun stuff. The people taking care of it are starting to slack I think? The bathrooms aren't great at all. They run out of tp. Some of them smell horribly. The cooking stove didnt have a connected grill for us to use (even though we didn't due to the fire ban, we would have wanted to). Just hope that after this year and Covid, something happens to make it better..

Black Lake is such a beautiful place and I thoroughly enjoyed tent camping on the August long weekend (2020).

In April 2021, I returned to Black Lake on a day trip to hike the Black Lake Hiking Trail. It was 9 km round trip. The hike had beautiful views of the lake and interesting scenery. There were lots of ups and downs, and some steep climbs and descents as the trail led through forest, on top of granite rocks, through marshy areas and along sandy beaches. There were some nice rapids at the end to enjoy lunch. The trail is marked with flagging tape and rock cairns, which are a bit infrequent at first, and then become much easier to follow as the trail goes on. The trail was muddy and wet in the lower areas and I got my feet wet. This hike was moderately challenging and took me 3.5 hours to complete. It was stunning and definitely one of my favourite hikes in the province!

The gravel road leading from Bird River to the campground is pretty rough, filled with potholes and washboard bumps. It is a winding road with lots of sharp twists and turns. After enduring this drive, it was a welcome sight to arrive at the secluded campground in the middle of the forest with nothing else around.

There are no showers or amenities in the campground, just outhouse washrooms. The nearest gas station and store is about an hour away, near the entrance of the park, so make sure to stock up on everything you need and bring enough food.

I loved the rugged, pristine and untouched wilderness around Black Lake. Most of Nopiming is completely undeveloped and it was so serene and gorgeous. In terms of things to do, I enjoyed the Walking on Ancient Mountains Trail (2 km round trip and scenic. Followed through forest and on top of the rock face with incredible views along the way. Located 11 km north of Black Lake).

There were around 70 campsites (some seasonal) at the campground, most of them with good privacy and a mix of sun and shade. The lake was so beautiful and calm. There were great photo opportunities here! The campground office has maps, information and free firewood (and decent cell service on the porch). There is a caribou exhibit across from the office with info and history on the herd in this park. I stayed in Loop D, site 03 and it was a gorgeous site that was a close walk to the lake. There was a beautiful walking path from my loop along the lake to the beach and the Black Lake hiking trail. There were amazing views from along here and lots of rock outcrops to enjoy the lake. The beach was small but nice and had soft sand and picnic tables. There was a water tap in the campground but it was not potable so make sure to bring your own water from home.

Black Lake is an absolutely beautiful area!

My family has been coming here for over 30 years. Just this past summer, July 2022, Site 37, we complained about our fire pit cover which has been detached for numerous years. Steve, from Manitoba Parks in Lac du Bonnet, was kind enough to replace it almost immediately. He also relocated the site marker so it was more visable. Big props to him for doing such a wonderful job.

I absolutely love black lake. I try to make it out at least once every year. Black lake itself is great with its beaches, awesome fishing, provincial campground, and hiking trails. Fire wood is supplied free of charge for campers. Tents and R.V's are welcome with both electrical and basic sites. There are also endless other lakes, ponds, canoe routes, overnight campsites, and hiking trails within an hours drive as well. Be aware the road up is pretty narrow with many turns and sometimes loose gravel. And there is no stores or drinking water nearby.

Bad road so keeps out the big rigs. The lake is soooo gorgeous with the rounded granite shore and bay after bay to paddle into. No wake boats here.
