As any market with this style, sales people will be approaching you all the time during your walk around the market. If you get used to it , then you have a quite enjoyable experience.

You can find almost everything that you can buy from Fortaleza and the people are willing to negotiate prices( of course in PORTUGUESE) and support you!

As a Brazilian I liked to visit and see the market, but I am not a fan of people pushing products to me or asking me all the time for what I want to Shop, etc.
Nevertheless, it's the environment culture and let's respect it and enjoy it!

Please visit and support local shopping staff, it will certainly be worth it!☺

Very short and precise: a must for any tourist, who is eager for really nice souvenirs!

In the basement you find a perfect smoothy bar, where you can choose any fruit (and combination) to get a very fresh prepared smoothy

A great place to pick up a few souvenirs and presents in Fortaleza. Lots of stalls, many with similar/the same stock. I would recommend starting on the top floor and working your way down. It gets very hot!!

The Fortaleza central market is a great option if you are looking to buy souvenirs and handicrafts in one affordable place. There is no AC in the building. There were some food vendors as well as people selling tours.

The selection is huge, they have about 4 floors full of vendors. You can buy clothes, hammocks, swimsuits, hats and more. Take cash as it is the preferred method and sometimes you can get better prices.

I recommend you go before 4 pm. It is best if you take a taxi/uber to get there. I saw the parking is limited and traffic is likely to be bad. We liked the experience, the vendors were nice, but none of them spoke english so a phone translator is a must.

Must-see in Fortaleza, if only for the design (but also try and support local businesses by picking up a few souvenirs)

This place and the old prison Market are the two places to buy souvenirs. This place is larger.
Realistically, any single store in either market will sell all the same items that you will find in both markets. Hammocks, tablecloths, summer dresses, tshirts etc.

A super cool and interesting place. It's a bit desorganised and there are lots of mosquitoes. But it is a great place to buy local art and original products from the region. They have lovely dresses, hats, tipical foods, toys and arts and crafts, etc. A truly local place to go to and to practice your bargaining skills.

Loved this place, here you can find local merchants, inexpensive and variety of goods from flip flops to curtains however they should have added some more food and water stands however definatly a place to visit over the weekend especially Sunday when most of the city is closed

One of my favorite places to shop. All visits to Fortaleza should include this authentic shopping experience.

If you are visiting Fortaleza this place is a must visit
Expect to come away with at least a bulk pack of cashews.
It's cheaper than Biramar

It's a great public market you can find a lot of crafts and local souvenirs. This place is in the city center, so you should visit the historical city center as well. The cathedral is beside the market and is one of the biggest chuch in Brazil.

Great variety of goods, decent prices, bargaining is possible (depending on value and type of goods).
There are a lot of touristic articles, though (shirts, bags, ...). I liked it!
