Pedra Azul State Park

Just driving to this area is worth it. We took the 2.5 hour route leaving BR-101 from Fundão, then Santa Teresa, Santa Maria de Jetibá, Garrafão, before reaching Aracê. Beautiful route. To top it off, the even more beautiful Pedra Azul. We drove to the entrance of the park. Quite touristy and busy. Most people stay here for some photos and a visit to the restaurant and shop. Luckily so. Although right of the restaurant it stated that all trails were closed for the day since maximum of 150 persons was sold out, you can still walk about 1.5km up the mountain to the Park Rangers post. Only there the trails actually start that were limited access with permit. That first walk is highly recommended and easy to do for all, although flat shoes with profile is recommended. There is also a small beautiful cherry tree park just below the post that you can visit.

Wow. You just travel from. One beautiful vantage point to another here. I can't really say enough good things about this place. Great hiking, restaurants and food.

Really nice trails for hiking, taking around 2 hours to complete. There are natural pools for the cold water lovers.

Not crowded during the week and very relaxing. The pools are cold, but they leave you feeling more than refreshed. Stay at one of the many resorts nearby. Their is of great culture to experience and many of the local farms let you visit and purchase their different products.

Amazing views and great waterfalls, just plan in advance if it rains or is going to rain, some roads may become obstructed.

Beautiful park, nice walk (some climbing involved) to the piscinas. Water is very cold !

Dramatic landscape, somewhat circuitous route of course in order to reach it, but well worth the effort. Allow lots of time to explore.
