Fantastic tour here—one of the best in the country. The guides were funny and knowledgeable and offered real insights into the life and times of Potosi’s heyday, and the exhibits inside the Mint are maintained well so that visitors can understand the conditions of the workers and the historical progression of the minting over the centuries. Certainly a tour worth taking.

There are two main things to see, either both or at least one. This is the one I chose and you get an English guide. The second is the silver mines themselves.

We took the French tour which cost us 40 Bolivian. You need to pay 20 Bolivian more in order to take pictures in the museum. It’s up to you but I did without it and took a lot of notes instead and worked out well. The tour is 1hour. I highly recommend it. The history of money in potosi allow you to understand the Spanish colonialism, how the indigenous and animals have been manipulated in order to gather the wealth to the great kingdom. Sad but real.

Interesting place to learn a bit about the history of Bolivia and what made Potosi one of the largest cities in the world at one point - shouldn't miss it if you're around

English tour with knowledgeable guide. The history of the silver coins minted here is fascinating. Highly recommended. Tours run in Spanish, English and French at certain times daily and last one and a half hours.

Have to wait for a guide, only group tours available every often. Spots do go pretty fast. It was really interesting and artifacts were preserved very well. I can't recommend it enough, lots of history in Potosi.

Guided visit only, 40 bs for foreigner, worth every penny. The visit with Edith was a delight she knew everything about the building, its history and the collection of items. Must see while in Potosí!

One of the most interesting museum I've seen! The guides tour was great, the location is fantastic and the history of mint in Potosi is fascinating. There are also quite a few old machines which were used in the production of coins.

Enjoyable experience. The museum is well laid out and set in a colonial atmosphere. Suitable for adults and kids. Makes it more fun if you go with a guide

At 40Bs each this was great value for the hour and a half tour. The lady at reception, Cinda was so friendly as we arrived on Friday for the tour which was not on due to the Easter parade but she gave us lots of information on other things to do around Potosi and told us to come back the following day which we did!! The museum has all the original equipment used to mint the coins, including the only remaining wooden silver press sent over by the Spanish (it works too!!). We saw the silver coins that were minted from the 1500 and the amount of effort and labour that went into making them. The building itself is stunning, with 5 courtyards and rooms with high stone ceilings and beautiful detail. One of the best museums in South America I have been to and definitely worth the time to visit! (it is cold in there so bring a jumper!)

One of the better museums I've been to in South America. Beautiful building! Be aware that you need to pay to have photo taking privileges though.

Really interesting place with a great enthusiastic guide who spoke english (José I think). Lots to see, a great slice of Bolivian and Potosi history. 40 bolivianos pp for foreigners. A lot of the old engineering is still in place so it's much more interesting than a museum with just pictures.
