10/10. Couldn’t have asked for a better trip. Everything great - especially having spoken to people who went with other cheaper tours which don’t go as far into the jungle.

Saw so so many animals. The accommodation is incredible - even more so because it’s in the middle of the jungle. Food also was 10/10. Catered for my partner who is vegetarian coeliac (gluten free).

Honestly faultless - one of the best things we’ve ever done. Herman our guide was so knowledgable about the plants and animals

We visited Madidi Ecolodge for 4 days, and it was an amazing experience. The boat trip out there was beautiful. The cabins were very comfortable, and they were cleaned very thoroughly every day. The mosquito nets were very effective as well. The food we had during our stay was delicious, and we also got to eat the fish we had caught ourselves. The lodge is run by the local community, and these people have an incredibly large amount of knowledge about the ecosystem and animals of the jungle. Our guide Sandro was very welcoming and nice, and he was very enthusiastic about sharing his knowledge and giving us a lot of unique experiences. He spoke great English as well, and was just very good at communicating in general. Aside from the walks in the jungle, we tried tubing which was a fun experience. We also went on the optional one day trip to Santa Rosa lake to fish for pirana fish, and we highly recommend that you do this if you can find the time! All in all, it was an unforgettable trip, thank you for all!

Me and my boyfriend stayed at Madidi Jungle Ecolodge for 4 days and 3 nights and it was the best experience of our trip so far. A 2/3 hour amazing boat ride took us out out to the beautiful lodge base in the middle of the jungle on the river. It was SO secluded and peaceful and the cabins were super comfortable and bug free with very effective mozi nets. The whole thing is run by local community members who are friendly and incredibly knowledgable and passionate about the national park- plants, animals, general nature- everything! Obviously the food needs a mention- it was incredible- the best and most healthy we’ve eaten our entire trip. Everyday was a beautiful array of fruits and veggies. I am pescatarian and enjoyed incredible veggie alternatives + the fish we caught in the day one evening :D Our guide Simon was wonderful and took us on several amazing walks through the forest- we saw monkeys, so many different kinds of birds and learnt so much from him. Thank you Madidi Jungle Ecolodge for such a special experience we won’t be forgetting. Remember that Bolivia has beautiful amazon rainforest as well (as the typical places we tend to hear about- Peru, Brasil etc) and visit Rurrenabaque to support this amazing business.

Had a really great experience. Enjoyed it a lot, and the experience was more comfortable than I was expecting. Lodges are good, clean, bed comfortable, and…

Incredibly - the food is very varied and nice. The staff do an incredible job.

Issues? Not really any. 3 hour trip from the city by boat feels rather long, but it’s worth it.

PS. In countries like Indonesia the mosquitos bites hurt for days. Here… they don’t. Either hurt a bit for a few hours or less.

So if you’re concerned about mosquitos, you don’t need to be as much as you might think.

Malaria risk in this area is low. However, getting yellow fever vaccine seems wise.

We did the 3day-2night jungle trip with Madidi Jungle Ecolodge and it was an amazing experience! The transfer from the airport to the ecolodge was very well organized. Alex who is working in the office and organizing the trips is very friendly and corteous. The accomodation was clean. The food was delicious and our guide could answer all of our questions and showed us lots of animals that we would not have seen without him. I had the inpression that he really likes his job and that he is fascinated from the jungle and its residents. We had an incredible time hiking through the stunning nature and we have learned a lot about the plants and animals that can be found in Madidi Jungle. I am absolutely recommending Madidi Jungle Ecolodge!
Alex has also organized a Pampas trip for us which was absolutely amazing as well!

This stay exceeded our expectations. The lodge is located three hours by boat from Rurrenabaque. We stayed in a cabaña with private bathroom, beautiful and comfortable. You can hear the sounds of the jungle all around. We did many jungle walks with Rigoberto, who was very knowledgeable and great in finding animals. Contrary to tours I have done in the past, our guide was very respectful of the animals and nature in general. We saw different kinds of birds, macaws, monkeys, frogs and insects. The food, vegetarian in my case, was amazing. Every meal was different and included many vegetables.

We combined our stay with a 2 night tour in the Pampas, which I highly recommend doing. Ask Alex for the options. In the Pampas we did many excursions by boat and saw more wildlife than in the jungle: many many (different kinds of) monkeys, caimans, different species of birds, pink dolphins, capibaras, a baby anaconda, and a porcupine. Same goes here: amazing lodge, food and guide!

Stayed at Madidi Ecolodge as part of a 4 nights combined tour with the pampas. We booked with Green Travel Bolivia and everything worked to perfection. The whole plan exceeded my expectations, as the locations are not only beautiful but green travel has everything ready and well organized. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable (don't expect electricity 24/7, AC nor fans). The guides come from the comunity and are well prepared. In our case, Rigoberto and Norman knew the area, the fauna and flora and were keen to walk the extra mile to make us have a nice stay (and see as many animals as possible). Can't even name how many different species we saw. Our stay at Madidi (jungle) included hikes and walks and at the Pampas (Caracoles Ecolodge) boat rides and a walk in the grasslands. Both in the jungle and las pampas and we were served excellent food (even for vegetarians). Depending on the time of the year there could be mosquitoes. To be sure, consider bringing a high in deet bug spray.

Best way to comunícate with Green Travel was using WhatsApp.

This part of Bolivia is worth visiting.

I was excited to explore the jungle and the team at Madidi Jungle Ecolodge gave me the real experience. Alejandro took me out on several walking tours where we saw the Jungle in its rawest form.

The meals were prepared with care and very tasteful. I loved sleeping amongst the forest birds in their cabin style rooms.

Overall it was an amazing experience to adventure in the Bolivian Jungle!

Thank you Madidi Ecolodge Family!

Excellent experience. Situated in a thick and lively jungle - there's so much life around. Most impressed by our guide Alejandro Alvarez. He's extremely knowledgeable about the wildlife (species names, behavioral patterns, calls/sounds, plant uses, etc). Would make bird or monkey calls that attracted wildlife or engage in call-and-answer conversations with them. Incredible how he would just stop in his tracks after detecting the faintest calls from an animal, be able to identify it correctly without seeing it, then proceed to lead us to it. Super friendly. Super enthusiastic himself about seeing different animals (showed genuine interest in knowing his land). Shared much of his culture with us. Excellent English speaker. As for the lodge, we stayed in a private room with private bathroom. It was spacious, rustic, and appropriately wonderful. The cabin was surrounded by beautiful fushcia-colored flowering trees. Food was of local cuisine (fish from the river, fruits / vegetables grown nearby, etc). Staff members & cooks were friendly. Alex (owner) was super helpful & responsive - also engaged in good conversations with him about conservation and local efforts. Tips: apply bug repellant frequently, there's no lighting at night besides candles in the cabins (which was amazingly wonderful), know that there's limited electricity for charging phones / batteries (from a gas-powered generator, would be great to support them enough to be solar-powered).

This was such a cool experience!

You start off with a local (private) boat ride going through the Amazon. When you arrive you will be welcomed by the most friendly people ever who will guide you to your room.

The room itself is nice as well, very spacious and outside a hammock to chill out.

If you have the chance, try to do the tubing on the river. We stayed there for 3 nights and did this on our last day which was a good way to relax after walking around in the jungle.

It might be a bit pricey, but you get a very unique experience out of it!

We had a wonderful stay at Madidi Jungle. The lodge, situated in the middle of the jungle, is peaceful, clean and well maintained (no hot water in June 2019, but it was hot enough outside!). Food was excellent. Though, the best part of the experience was our very knowledgeable and funny guide Norman: we didn't book a private tour, but in any case we had Norman just for the two of us!! As far as we have seen, they tend to assign a guide to very small groups so to facilitate wildlife spotting, clear explanations and interactions with the guide. We had the impression that all guides were knowledgeable and nice. I think that if you speak Spanish the experience is probably more "authentic and personal" as you can easily engage in long conversation with all people working at Madidi Jungle (not only the guide) and for us that was as much part of the experience as the walks in the jungle.

Madidi Lodge is a project run by an indigenous community so if you decide to visit the jungle with them you will also contribute to the SUSTAINABLE wellbeing of the community (ask questions about the community: it is very interesting!!!). IT IS THE SAME COMMUNITY THAT OWNS CHALALAN ECOLODGE AND MANY OF THE PEOPLE CURRENTLY WORKING AT MADIDI JUNGLE HAVE PREVIOUSLY WORKED AT CHALALAN.

If you are interested, they can also organize pampas tours: it is done through the agency "Madidi Expeditions" which is an extension of the operations of Madidi Jungle (I.e. it is the same community running it, except they use a different name....a bit confusing). We did the pampas tour as well and we loved it: the accommodation was not at the level of Madidi Lodge, but still comfortable and clean. Food was amazing and most importantly we were alone with Norman. SUPER RECOMMENDED!!!

This is a fantastic place!
They take the "eco" in ecolodge very seriously. Years ago, I did one of the cheap "jungle tours" out of Rurrenabaque. At that time, we never ventured very far from the areas that are also being logged, and as a consequence we didn't spot too much wildlife.
Madidi jungle ecolodge, by contrast, you can only reach by going deep into the jungle; a couple of hours upstream by motorboat. The local tribal community manages the place (an offshoot from the successful Chalalán project), and high in their agenda is how balance the inevitable pressure on nature that comes with tourism with keeping the place pristine. They do so by limiting the number of tourists allowed (and as a consequence, the price is quite a bit more expensive than your typical Rurre experience). But pristine it is! In just three days in the ecolodge, we spotted 5 different species of monkey, and various other large forms of wildlife! The guide was very professional, yet easy-going and amicable.
Of course, it's a tropical jungle, so be prepared for constant humidity. The ecolodge community keeps everything very clean, but they keep impact on the jungle in very high esteem, so they limit how much electricity, water, etc. you can use. You'll be thankful for it: because of their high ecological standards, you'll get to experience the real jungle.

Set in the Amazon- being here feels special. Staff and guides are very attentive and caring. Go in season to have better chances to see the wildlife.

Our 4-day experience was amazing! Our guide Alejandro knew so much and we saw a lot of wildlife and different plants. It's a lot walking in 40C° jungle so one day fishing piranhas at Santa Rosa Lake was a nice cooler activity. The food was also delicious. If you want to see capybara just ask the guides for a good spot near the town!

Großes Lob an unseren Guide Simón!
