Excellent location and a wonderful view from the room and the terrace of the restaurant
The room was spacious and beautifully furnished in a rustic style. Very good and varied breakfast.
Very kind staff and willing to help you at any time.

Location is great for tourists, being just a few hundred metres from all the good shops, restaurants and most of the city attractions (Gurko Street is mainly a stone walking path with very few cars). Would definitely recommend this to families, as the hotel rooms are spacious and the restaurant has a good variety of food.

A reasonable taxi ride (€10) from the railway station (and not within walking distance if you have luggage). Located on a very quiet road with nothing but "view" to the front. On street / outside tables as well as indoors. Rustic inn / restaurant. Bedrooms and en-suites are spacious.
Greeted in a friendly way, and all staff friendly and helpful.

Perfect location, excellent location, amazing rooms and incredible attention! We visited the city with my family, from Argentina and Brazil and were greatly received by the manager and her team. Highly recommended!

We were immediately greeted by friendly, helpful staff. Our rooms were ready, and the floor was still wet from having just been mopped, so knew it was clean! I won't lie - my first thought upon seeing the room was that it sort of felt like a convent - while large, it was very sparse. But don't let that fool you - it had pretty much everything I needed (except a safe in the room, that's my only real complaint), and the bed, while not looking like much, was surprisingly comfortable. The sheets and towels also smelled fresh, so again, knew everything was clean! The shower had good hot water and excellent water pressure (and there was a heated towel rack in my bathroom!). The breakfast provided in the mornings was delicious, and there was plenty of food. We also went back for dinner twice to the restaurant, and had great meals. The location is not on the main street, but it is a five minute walk to get to the main street (just be prepared to walk uphill/up steps). I did not mind at all, plus it meant the street was quieter. Overall, a great stay!

The best location in town, in an authentic building, beautiful and comfortable rooms. The service is excellent, very nice and helpful staff. The restaurant is excellent, very tasty and generous dishes, good selection of wines and alcohols. It was an exquisite experience! Really, I have only words of praise!

The people here are warm and welcoming. The food is excellent, and the rooms are comfortable.

I've had the pleasure to visit the restaurant of the hotel and I've been quite impressed. Excellent food, atmosphere and service. It's also worth to note that unlike other spots where they turn up the volume of music too much, Gurko hits the perfect balance - it's quiet enough and pleasant.

Excellent tavern serving delicious Bulgarian dishes, attended by the most friendly man in town. We kept coming back to eat here during our stay in Veliko Tarnovo.

Great hotel to stay at. Was close to everything and a fantastic view of the valley. Also had parking (we emailed ahead to reserve a spot). They had parking for 4 under the hotel, and a few more could park on the street in front. The hotel is located on a cobblestone narrow street. We were able to navigate it with our larger vehicle, but it was tight. If you have a smaller car, it should not be a problem. Parking was free. We had upgraded to the Junior Suite for a little more money, and I think it was worth it. The breakfast had a little of something for everyone, and ended up being more of a brunch as there was so much food. We also at dinner at the hotel (was not included like breakfast was) and everything we ate was delicious, and the view was incredible. The kitchen closed at 10pm, and the restaurant was open until 11 pm. People enjoyed strolling along the cobblestone street in front of us well into the evening. The area was well lit, and appeared safe. The rooms were clean, and beds were comfortable. There was complimentary coffee and tea in the room. Some staff spoke English.

Overall would definitely stay here again, and recommend to others.

An accidental choice, turned one of the most favorite places!
Loved the hotel - everything is spotless clean, the beds are comfortable and the view is gorgeous. The staff is just fantastic - the owner took us to our car, led us back, cooked for us and made sure we were super comfortable. The breakfast, too, was abundant and delicious :)

I'm giving this hotel five stars because of the owners and employees! They have a restaurant and they have what I call clean food. Not too oily or overcooked. The location is picturesque and in the old town. My favorite city in Bulgaria so far : -)

Perfect, perfect, perfect! These people love their business. The hotel is very clean and cosy. The restaurant is fantastic. The breakfast looks like a 3 stage menu... It is enormous. I hope to be there again.

Lovely little place.We were exploring the local restaurants and friends of ours suggested a far more famous place but we followed our instincts and came here.
The food was more than we expected from both quality and taste,i ordered a burger wich is unusual in a traditional ethnic place such as this.Absolutely brilliant!The lovely waiter,reserved at first,but a very nice young man and made our time here astonishing.

6. THE ROOM. Very confortable, Very big for the price , Very cozy, Very clean, Very quiet.

10. OVERALL. This hotel is everything you can get talking about traditional experience.

Disliked · The single TV channels nonbulgarian is CNN and MTV. In Bulgaria TV shows are doubled, so you can hear only bulgarian language watching anything on TV.

My wife and I visit Hotel Gurko almost every year and find it an excellent Hotel owned and staffed by lovely people. It is very clean and comfortable with outstanding views of the river. The dining room is very Bulgarian and serves beautiful food. For a genuine Bulgarian experience it is great.
