Shipka Memorial Church

Beautiful church and grounds with some souvenir shops. You an see the gold domes for quite some distance. The sounds of the bells ringing is spectacular. There are beautiful paintings adorning the walls and roof of the church and you can light candles for a small fee. Definitely worth a visit.
You can take a ride around the courtyard on a horse for €10 which is different and fun.

This jaw-dropping church is worth the drive to the little village of Shipka for a visit. The Eastern Orthodox Church was built to honor those that died in a great battle in the Shipka Pass.
Not only is the building striking, but the grounds are well maintained and very peaceful.
You can enter the church to view the icons, alters, and catacombs. For a small amount you can purchase and light candles.
There is a cemetery that holds the remains of soldiers. Sculptures are placed around the grounds. There is a walking path that allows you to see 360º of the church.

Arrived too late to see the interior, but happy to see this magnificient church illuminated by night. Impressive details and beautiful mini-park surrounding the Memorial. A lot of names of the fallen Russian soldiers. Beautiful details and superbe towers.

Really an amazing piece of art and architecture, visible from town and the hiking area after it, that leads to the monument of freedom (green marked path). It's a great place for kids, has a park, a lot of benches, a small restaurant, souvenir shop, but most of all - the golden radiance and beauty of the church.

Wow this Russian church is such a pretty building. It is very close by the national monument Shipka, I will loved my visit to this beautiful church and if you are travelling to Shipka, make sure you stop by at this Russian Cathedral.

Wow. You can see the glistening golden domes of this church from far away across the valley. The church is a delight and its location is dramatic. Read about its history in the small crypt museum - how they slugged the giant bell up the hill by sheer human strength alone.

Truly amazing church, you see the golden roof shining from miles away! The atmosphere around is great, you can relax and chill for a few minutes. I definitely recommend visiting it if you are in the area, then make sure to visit the Buzludzha monument nearby

Church with golden roofs is builded as a memorial of soldiers, killed in battles for Shipka's pass in Russian-Turkish war in 1878. Nice and quiet place. Good to visit in all seasons.

What a beautiful church in Russian style (it reminded me of St. Petersburg)! Beautifully maintained though in a bit of an unknown location. Luckily I found out about it in Veliko Tarnovo's open-air Little Bulgaria museum, which shows models of great architecture all over Bulgaria, so I made a specific stop to visit this church. Entry is free and if you park a little bit below the main parking, you can park for free too and walk up the steps. Recommended!

Extraordinary and absolutely beautiful place to see and learn interesting facts about the history of the church. Glad to see how well maintained the place is being kept. Definitely will come again and I believe it is a must to see this piece of art when visiting the city.

Really good preserved national heritage. The coffee shop in the entranve garden has one of the best view for the church while you are resting.

After climbing the stairs to get to the top of the hill, we realized that we could have driven up really close to the church to see it. however, the climb up the stairs made it feel more worthwhile, like we had achieved something. It's very worth visiting this building to see some originally Russian Orthodox architecture which I presume is now cared for well by Bulgaria. Beautiful icons inside and amazing acoustics.
