Vitosha

Beautiful mountain, different paths, I took the Cherni Vrah path but a storm started but anyway I handled it till the end. Strongly recommend to visit the mountain and even stay there for a day or two. On weekends you can take the metro untill Vitosha station (1,6 leva) then walk straight a few meters and you will find the bus stop, I took bus 66 until Moreni hotel in which I stayed one night too(they have the cutest dog in the world and he is 17 years old!!). The bus cost is also 1,6 leva, first Bus start from 8:55 from the first station and arrived to the bus stop around 9:10 am.

Took me 1h50 from Golden Bridge to the top of the mountain.

Amazing nature scenery,with many hiking paths and different water streams. You can approach by car up to a point,then it's all on food. At the beginning of the paths there are a few places to have a coffee or a bite to eat.

We traveled by private car to Simeonovo to take a cable lift there. Unfortunately and please bear in mind that it is opertaing only on weekends during summer time.
The lady at the entrance told us that there is other way by car from Aleko hut. The road is ok also for normal cars.
Once you reach the place you will exprience a spectacular view and I recommend to take red track to go up.

Amazing reprieve from the city. So close yet so far.

The Vitosha mountain is the greatest advantage of Sofia over other cities and European capitals. So close, accessible by city transport, it offers an escape from the noise and the smog of the urban area. And it offers paths for everyone - you can climb, run, walk, there are ski and bike tracks.
The cable car owning company, however, should free the mountain from their presence as the lifts do not operate.

You can't leave Sofia until you have visited this mountain. From the city centre, take bus number 88 then change to 123 to get to the lower cable car station in Simeonovo. Then take the Simeonovo Cable Car to get to the top of the mountain (8lv for students, both way). There are few stations on the top but don't jump off from the cable car until you reach the last station. The journey lasted approximately for 30minutes. I really enjoy it and that was the most enjoyable visit that me and my friend had apart from some bad encounters while we were at Sofia!

It’s beautiful and really close to the city 🌃 birds 🐦 constantly singing and it’s perfect 👌 for photographers. It is our responsibility to keep the mountain ⛰ clean!!!!

If you love nature and hiking the nearest mountain will be vitosha mountain. It’s about 90 mins journey from serdika.

Amazing mountain with natural nature.

Both the road to the mountain ad hiking the mountain is something you have to try. Going with the car up you see many nice local places you can visit. And hiking is not as easy as most mountains, with many small and dangerous paths to go to the top. Especially mid-way there are some tricky parts. Atleast if you don't take the tourist way.

One of the best places for relax and a trekking around Sofia. Great nature, can be crowded in the weekends and holidays. The transportation in general and parking in particular can be tricky.
Good conditions for winter sports, lots of huts an paths.
The infrastructure is old and not very well y maintained.
Pick your litter, it's important.

Nature near the big city. Mountain with fresh air and beautiful landscapes. There are many trails and well organized huts. It's perfect for one day hike.

Amazing place for all mountain related activities, from the tame like hiking and walks in nature to the extreme like ice climbing and rock climbing. An amazing natural jewel so close to a European capital.
