Archaeological Museum

Nicely organised archeological museum. Even though it is rather small for the historically significant town like Veliko Tarnovo, currator was a great guy and explained to me everything I wanted to know. Where it lacks in artifacts, it fills with great and knowledgeable people.

The building itself is beautiful and historical. Interesting collection of the artifacts. However, there is always a room for better reservation and presentation for the display of artifacts with the museology background.

We really liked this museum. To gain entry you had to ring a doorbell after first passing through the stunning courtyard. The museum is old fashioned and in need to significant investment, it looks as though little has changed since communist times (including the rather impressive 1960s murals alongside the central stairway), the information panels are brief or outdated (we found Google Translate very helpful!), and some artefacts need urgent restoration. The coins in particular are fascinating, but I fear they are degrading rapidly in the not-ideal conditions and need professional treatment. However, leaving aside these comments, the museum has some fabulous items spanning prehistory, Thracian, Roman and medieval times. There are objects on display which would grace institutions such as the Louvre or British Museum, yet are here in this provincial museum in the small historic town of Veliko Tarnovo. Please pay a visit and provide this lovely institution with some much-needed visitors and funds.

Really worth it!! It was a great place to visit! It tells you more about the history of this place than the actual History museum. It's filled with telling artifacts and maps that help you get the context of it all and even though not everything has an English description, we had a tour together with a wonderful lady (small, long hair, did not catch her name) that translated the entire experience and was a wonderful conversation partner.
She gave us the context, explained how the artrifacts were brokendown per eras, etc. She was Awesome!
Plus, the plants in the courtyart and inside are amazing!! I enjoyed how lively and beautiful the place looked with them!

Всеки обичаш българска история би харесал музея. Има доста интересни артефакти уви описанието на някои е доста кратко.Според мен би било и добре да се добавят надписи на английски, за да може и чужденците да разбират какво гледат.

Малък, но много интересен музей. На първия етаж са изложени Праистория и Античност, а на втория Средновековна история. В музея може да се види копие на Хотнишкото златно съкровище, оригиналът на което се съхранява в Националния исторически музей. Всеки последен четвъртък на месеца входът е безплатен.

Потрясающе интересный музей: старинные золотые украшения, антропоморфные фигурки, реконструкция гробницы - вполне заслуживает посещения. Самое здание музея очень красивое. Уютный тенистый дворик.

Музеят е доста голям и има интересни експонати. Според мен няма достатъчно информационни табели за ориентир. Масово се посещава Конака и Археологията остава на заден план. Дворът пред входа на музея е прекрасен, гледката също.

Много интересно, особено с беседа! Препоръчвам на всеки любопитен и интересуващ се от история и култура да го посети. Входа беше много странен, личи че има много векове зад гърба си, но не разбрахме историята на самата сграда.

Чудесный дворик музея. Зеленый, тенистый, милый.

Заслужава да се види, който се интересува от българска история!

Взехме семеен билет за 6 лв. и беседа за 10. Беседата беше страхотна. Препоръчвам.

Задължителен музей за всеки който се интересува от история.
