Living Water Spring

The spot is wonderful, the mountain itself also, but now in February the walking path to there has a lot of water running down on it, so better be prepared with waterproof shoes and some food in the backpack - about 90 minutes walking up from the village of Bosnek. And please- keep the mountain out of waste, with respect for the Mother Nature ❤

The path begin in the end of Village Bosnek who is situated at 40km from sofia on the road to Pernik.You have to take street 'live water'

Interesting place and mysterious, the path isn't difficult, it takes 1h and a half in one direction

Extremely qiet, peaceful, pleasant. You can eat your own food sitting on the benches near the spring. The water from the spring is cold and tasty. Enjoy!

Nice 1 hour in direction walk

Beautiful trail from Bosnek with a great end point, especially in the autumn... A good trail if you want to avoid the usual traffic on the other side of Vitosha. Not steep and also good for youngsters.

Village of Bosnek is located on the southern slopes of Vitosha Mountain, 45km southwest of Sofia. From the end of the village starts a marked path leading to a spring called "The Living Water".
The water gushes from beneath a stone dragon (or crocodile) head and is unique in that it pulsates - sometimes the water stops, then comes again, hence the name came.
The legends tell the spring has magic ability to recognize the righteous and the wicked people, and water stops when close to it is a bad person.
The place roused interest from the ancient times. Centuries ago the Ottoman traveller Evliya Çelebi called the spring "Fountain of happiness".
Nowadays people often come here seeking help and healing. Some manage to fetch miraculous water, but others leave disappointed.
The mystery of the fanciful pulsations is still not solved.

Много красиво място! Когато посетихме извора (февруари 2024), той беше много пълноводен и бликаше непрекъснато. Освен това разходката до него по екопътеката от село Боснек е истинско удоволствие! По пътя има две чудесни поляни, на едната в началото на пътеката има пейки и е много подходяща за пикник или барбекю. Другата, малко преди извора, е открита и слънчева и също чудесна за почивка. През февруари пътеката беше доста кална, но с туристически обувки и това предизвикателство не е чак толкова трудно. Накрая ще отбележа, че това е още едно от местата, които открихме благодарение на книгата "101 отбивки" - огромна благодарност на авторите й!
