Wonderful location, very well restored. I did not expect at that time that there was such a floor heating technology for the rooms and the pool. Exceptionally well preserved mosaics. Here for the first time I saw the broken cross, which in ancient times meant something else (circle of life).

Villa Armira, gives a really good image of what life was like for a very wealthy Thracian family living during the Roman rule. Contains the oldest and best preserved Roman/Thracian mosaic in Bulgaria. Even features ancient underfloor heating mechanism, the staff were also very friendly and very knowledgable.

This is well preserved roman style villa. It is said that villas was ones owned by a wealthy Thracian family that produced and traded with marble. The villa was used until the late 4th centure when it was ransacked by the goths after the battle of Adrianople. Some local historians even speculate that after the battle the wounded emperor Valent was carried to the villa.
The highlight of this site are the floor mosaics and the marble sculptures, columns and figurines. The art style and details are amazing.
I highly recommend visiting villa Armira to anyone interested in history, culture and art.

The ancient Roman Vila is founded around 45 a.c when the Roman empire conqered these lands. The mosaics are unique and very detailed, one of the earliest mosaics of the Roman Epoch. It was believed that the owners of the villa were tracian nobles.

Impressive place from Roman times with preserved mosaics. The restored areas give a hint of what it was like, and there is a nice movie presentation which complements the vision and history of the place.

The palace is impressive and the floor tiles with marble pieces have intricate figures and designs. The swastik in the design was very interesting. The owner of the palace is believed to have traded in marble.
