Ruines du Château d'Amblève

We had a hard time finding the trail that leads to these ruins. Driving around to a couple places but let me save you some time. Put Emblève 43 in your navigation, park around there and follow the red trail 6 which leads to the ruins. It is quite a steep trail so take your hiking boots.

Once arrived, you will enjoy magnificent views over the area and the beautiful castle.

May not be suitable for young children as the place is not secured but would definitely recommend.

Loved it! What was left of the castle was swallowed by the woods. Amazing look out points. Fun and tricky pathways to get around. (So wouldnt recommend it for people who want to bring their kids.) An almost mystical place. A lady told us to look up the legend behind it (she sadly couldnt quiet remember it at that moment). She hinted that the legend was about the 4 kids that lived there. And them having some connection with the towns around the ruines.
One of the best experiences from our hike through Aywailles. Amazing.

Wow, just wow. Great, adventurous hike along some very neat paths, only to arrive at a sight you're likely never to forget. Ruins of a castle originally built in the 700s AC. Breathe the history, and notice how nature has reclaimed an obviously great castle after it was destroyed in the 1500s. You can freely roam the ruins. Just amazing.

Surreal, beautiful, lots of corridors, see through. One can imagine how this must have looked like in the ancient times.

Large complex of walls, store rooms, and gatehouses set on a spectacular cliff and forest edge. No signage or guides, just raw medieval history. Mind your step!

Worth the climb

Very nice place to go. Accessible from a kind of parking facility to the South West of the ruin.

If you like to walk in the nature and are interested in a historical site, then it’s a good choice to visit this placd

Onbegrijpelijk dat hier niks mee gedaan word, maar dan zou het misschien een deel van zijn magie verliezen die het nu uitstraalt.
Mooie natuur, met uitzichtpunten op de rivier.
Het kasteel is veel groter dan je eerst zou denken!
Inderdaad, er staat soms "privé" maar de natuur en cultuur is voor iedereen, en zeker als je niks kapot maakt enkel de geschiedenis opsnuift

Beginpunt was beetje lastig te bepalen, het is ook geen officiële bezienswaardigheid. Maar eenmaal boven, prachtig uitzicht en geweldig stuk bos met ruïne. Niet heel groot, je bent met anderhalf/ twee uur weer terug bij je auto.

We hebben met 2 kinderen geklommen (jongste 4 jaar)en was goed te doen , hier en daar wel vasthouden, het is echt heel hoog.

Wij vonden de ruïne door de beschrijving via hier, via Google maps, navigatie stuurt je namelijk naar de overkant van de weg. Anders hadden we er nooit gekomen.
Helemaal bovenop de top stonden verse bloemen een lag er een steen met een tekst voor een naar in mijn ogen, overleden broer.
Mijn zoontje vond de steen en zou graag willen weten of iemand daar verongelukt oid is. Het laat hem niet los. Iemand die dit weet?

Heel leuke ruïne. Mysterieus. Je waant jezelf even op een totaal andere (magisch?) plekje
Zoals anderen hier reeds vermelden: ga naar Embleve nr 43. Klein stukje doorrijden en dan zie je een bosweggetje naar boven (rode route 6) 10 tal minuutjes wandelen en je bent aan de ruïne. Veel ontdekkingsplezier!
