Balaka is a movie theater located in New Market, Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is the oldest movie theatre of Bangladesh (Estd. 1951). Balaka Cineworld, one of the oldest movie theaters in the country, was closed on 20 March 2020 for COVID-19 epidemic, but reopened on 29 September 2022.

The Balaka Cinema was built in the early 1960’s and has a typical modern 1960’s facade. It is located to the east of Dhaka New Market.

One of the oldest cinema hall in Dhaka City. Located in between new market and dhaka college. This hall is mainly famous to students around the place. They have quite nice and clean environment inside and outside. The pricing is really comfortable for everyone.

The environment of this hall is not bad. It has a large space & interior is also good. It had Central AC inside.

& taking photos & chewing gum in cinema hall is strictly prohibited. I visited there two times. I went there at morning, so I could see movie in a half ticket price. There was no crowd in the morning.

Maybe the most popular cinema hall in Dhaka city. This is also a historic place for Bangladesh. Had witnessed of so many incident and story over the years. Their services is quite good enough and so the condition are. Need to improvement in a few sectors. Specially need to prevent black tickets.

Fully air-conditioned auditorium. Car parking is available here. Dhaka Newmarket, Dhaka College, Dhaka University area, so too many people visit this place for show movie.

Despite being 60 years old, the hall is very nice. Picture quality isn't like Cineplex but regardless is a very good experience. Staff is also very well behaved and helpful.

It's one of the oldest cinema hall in Bangladesh. Recently renovated. Screen is big. Leg space between the seats are amazingly large to fit any sizes of legs! Cozy. Clean toilet. Overall experience was A+

Though there are modern Cineplexes with ultra facilities in Dhaka now a days, but Balaka bears history. The facility it provides may not the best but satisfactory. It's 60 years old (celebrating diamond jubilee). Location is very prime. They shows quantity cinemas. And one extra ordinary fact is that since 25/10/2003 every Friday morning show the ticket price is half. Good environment.
