First masjid in dhaka! Though this masjid is renovated, the old part of this masjid is still there. The new building has all the modern facilities & is well decorated. If you wish you can sit & pray in the old part also.

I just loved this mosque. It is the most oldest mosque in the city, and some says it is the first mosque of dhaka. Actuall building was very small with two gambuj, and near to this a 4 stored building created. Some says the mosque was build about 800 years ago. I prayed Jummah there. New buildings 1st floor there was lacking of speaker that prayerer could not hear clearly from behind. But comitte was asking for donation to execute sone AC. It was a foolish thing. Others everything was absolutely ok.

Built in 1454, Dhaka is said to be the first and oldest mosque in the city. Binat Bibi Mosque is located in Narinda. Now a part of the ancient one of the mosque is preserved. Construction of a new mosque is underway. It has a huge minaret which is very beautiful to look at.

Binat Bibi Mosque (Bengali: বিনত বিবির মসজিদ) is the earliest surviving mosque in Dhaka built in 1454 by Bakht Binat, the daughter of Marhamat. It was built during the rule of the Sultan of Bengal, Nasiruddin Mahmud Shah (1435–1459).

There is a stone inscription of the mosque written in Farsi (Persian) which is located on the north of the mosque where Binat Bakht is buried. (Could not make out the meaning though)

With time the original pre-Mughal features were changed, the outer façade of the western veranda, the northern wall, the dome and the side walls of the waterbody were decorated with traditional vernacular "chinitukri" work (ceramic or glass shard tiling), which I've tried to capture in the photos.

Last month I visited puran Dhaka and suddenly I saw this mosque and tried to explore such an amazing architecture building and it was binat bibi mosque.

Know from people it was built in 1454. According to a different source- it was built in 2457. During Nasiruddin Mahmud Shahb era his daughter Musammat Bakht Binat built it.

It is a large mosque and it has a big minar . It has a six storey building, which is mainly extension. The main building is quite small.

There pray 5 times prayer in a day. Jum'a prayer is one biggest gather with all muslim.

If you get a chance you can visit anytime. It's 1 minute walking distance from the main road.

Six hundred-year-old Binat Bibi Mosque, the oldest structure in the city, is counting days amid a dilapidated state when Dhaka prepares to celebrate its 400 years. The mosque in Narinda dates back to as early as the pre-Mughal Sultanate period according to historians and conservation architects. Built in 1457 by Bakht Binat, during the sultanate of Nasiruddin Mahmud Shah I, it is a precious piece in the history of the city.
