Serbian monastery Liplje bulit by Serbian King Dragutin Nemanjic XIII century

According to the folk tradition, the monastery is the endowment of St. Sava. This was the main reason why the stone was placed on the western portal during the reconstruction carried out in 1867-1879. In the year stated that the monastery was founded in 1219. The settlement of Liplje is mentioned in 1273, but explicitly the monastery was mentioned only at the end of the 15th century in Krushevski's speech.
Today, it is clear that, according to Justin Celijski, the monastery is the endowment of King Dragutin from the end of the thirteenth (13th) century, although it is probably also built on the foundations of an older church.
In historical records it is mentioned under two names: Liplje and Osovica, and very often in the same documents under both names.

The monastery was originally dedicated to St. Nicholas. Never, but after the renovation in the 19th century, it was dedicated to the Blessing of the Most Holy Theotokos.
It belongs to the order of larger and higher medieval sacral objects (about 20 m).

The inscription above the entrance to the monastery

In the monastery, for a long time, perhaps from the very beginning, she worked on a copywriting workshop. According to the data from various sources, by the beginning of the 17th century the monastery was in full bloom. At the beginning of the 17th century, that is, in 1615, it experienced a catastrophe: in the great flood, the monastery and its property were damaged, and several inhabitants of the monastery were killed. Lipljan transcript Danilo says:

In the year 7123 ... there was a flood and a burst of the port, the destruction of the church and the conquer, there was no stone left on the stone, and ten monks and four disciples drowned, only three of them avoided water ...

The next accident happened in 1696, when the monastery was robbed and burned. Then the monastery remains abandoned for over 200 years. The reconstruction only started in the second half of the 19th century by priest Kosta Dusanic. Works on the new reconstruction were completed in 1879. The permit for this reconstruction was obtained in 1858, but the reconstruction was only started in 1867. The works cost, as some sources cite 1700 ducats, and the works were led by priests Kosta Dusanic, Ilija Vukovic and Risto Jungic. In 1922 a belfry was added to the facade, which was later removed. Since then, the monastery had the role of the parish church until 1965, when it again began to act as a monastery
In 1984, another major renovation of the monastery was carried out. On that occasion, a plate with the following text is placed in the interior of the monastery:

In the glory of God, this holy monastery was rebuilt in 1984 with the blessing of the bishop of Banja Luka, Efrem, the efforts of the jeromonah of the Sava and the faithful of the parish of the Lipljan. The revival was performed on August 5, 1984 by the bishop of Dalmatia, Nikolai, the bishop of Zvornik-Tuzla, Vasilije, and the bishop of Banja Luka, Efrem, with the attendance of several priests and the presence of about ten thousand believers. The Kum's restored monastery. Svetislav Gavric from Liplje, with housewife Nevenka and son Nedeljko.

On August 9, 1998, the patriarch of the Serbian Pavle was consecrated by the monastery
Today, the brotherhood of the monastery consists of four monks, one nun and a servant.

Stefan Dragutin Nemanjic (around 1251 - 12 March 1316) was King of Serbia from 1276 to 1282 and King Srem from 1284 to 1316
Son of Stefan Urosh I and Jelen Anzuj
He had two sons, Vladislav (the king of Srem) and Uroshitsa (later monk Stefan) and daughter Jelisaveta (married to Stefan I Kotromanic) and Ursula (or Ursa), married to Pavle Shubic.
