Valley of Heroes

One of those places which are off tourist beaten paths but they have its glory. Quite well kept, I can imagine it is very nice on special occasions. Restaurant next to it is definitely worth a visit.

Certainly one of the most beautiful places I’ve been in my life. The way those monuments are built to reflect the suffering and how heroic people were to save the world from Nazism. There’s a restaurant and a small shop to buy souvenirs. The road to arrive there is also beautiful.

Most beautiful scenery ever especialy for those who love mountains, hiking and camping, biggest open swimming pool in the Europe is also near so just wonderful place to go and forget about the world and troubles around us

In May 1943 this was one of the most dangerous places in Europe (see Case Black). After a month of enemy encirclement and attrition, the Partisans were able to break free at this very spot. The monument is both impressive and poignant at the same time. You can walk all the way between the slabs. Most recommended.

This spomenik at Tjentište commemorates the fighters and fallen soldiers of the Battle of the Sutjeska, which took place from May 15th to June 16th, 1943.

Very interesting monument. If you're driving past, stop and take the chance to walk around a bit.

A must visit when you are in the area. Truly majestic place.

Historical landmark of highest importance to former Yugoslavia. Surrounded by great natural features, from gorges to forest, with one of the purest and most beautiful rivers. Several good restaurants in the area.

Stunning nature with a heroic backstory. Unfortunately, the Battle of Sutjeska museum and the Memorial Hall were ransacked and burned by locals, but there is still a lot of value in getting a tour with the museum keeper who will show you the battle lines and give the fascinating background story to this historic place. He will also walk you through the storytelling frescos on the wall of the Memorial Hall, where names of 7300+ of Partisans are written. And finally, take a walk to the imposing twin-rock monument, a homage to the place where the German siege was breached by Tito and Partisans. So much more could be said and seen at this location, but the local government cares very little about one of the most heroic battles of the WW2.
