The South African Shop

Been in NSW for 01 month and craving the flavours of Cape Town. A neighbour suggested we try ordering online from The South African Shop as we couldn't find any of the spices and sauces we're familiar with at the local grocers. The service was awesome and the thoughtful message in our parcel was a sweet touch. We'll definitely be buying more spices & sauces in the near future. I honestly felt like I was in South Africa again! Haven't been there in 2 years but this place took me back. They have everything! Even the missing "Six Gun Grill" & Jikelele Beef spice! You'll find it here guys! It's so vibey here, they have a young restaurant serving drinks and SA braai! This is where it's at!!! Thankyou SA shop Hawthorn!!!

I have always found the atmosphere in this store to be great from the upbeat music, friendly staff to the vibrant colours and art on the cafe wall. I've always had a positive experience here.

I usually park on a side street as the main road is relatively busy. My main reason to travel here is the biltong it's so delicious I could eat it all day. I also like the drinks and snacks there is a wide variety available. I highly recommend this store.

Friendly people here every time I visit. On Sunday myself, a friend and our kids came here for Bunny Chow. My was it delicious! I can’t wait to try the other items on the cafe menu. Fingers crossed for another Bunny Chow day too!

Great place to stash up on authentic lekker groceries and goodies, treat yourself to a boerewors roll and red chai. Friendly staff, funky Cafe.

I've been going here for many years! The BEST biltong! Thank you, thank you. Great, nourishing, morish, and a great gift. I get mine whole...the family slices to their own desired thickness. Staff are efficient, and know their stuff when it comes to yummo biltong. Thank you. We are so lucky.

Offers a lot of essential products e.g wine , biltong , etc. that defines the South African food experience . Hence it offers convenience and an experience like no other, but you pay a premium for that convenience. There some products that are past their best before, which is not good for customers

Quite possibly the most helpful and generous store owners— my first time trying biltong and absolutely will be back! Militarts are delicious. Hopefully they will have Malva Pudding at the cafe soon!

The great taste of home. Great variety all South African products. Finally have been able to reminisce my childhood with Cookedsisters (Koeksister) Don’t need to make my own 👍 taste just like my Ouma used to make. Also Buttermilk Ouma Rusks. Not to mention a plethora of other goodies you’ll find here. Will definitely be back. One thing I’m still trying to find are SOUSBOONTJIES! I hope you guys will stock these one day. I love their Toasted Chicken Sandwich with Chips. Simple, filling and delicious. Do try it out and pair it along with any exotic sauces they serve. Would also try out other products from their store soon. Good job guys, keep it up.
