I went in September after two days of heavy rain and not a single leech, it was however quite cool in there. It was muddy but manageable . It's not spectacular as Wonga but that walk is a 10 star walk to me. There appeared to be a number of beautiful trees 🌳 🌲 that I didn't notice at Wonga and it really had its own unique vibe. I loved it.

Initially enjoyable. Especially in the misty weather. Then you realise…you are not alone. There are lots of leeches coming for you. Not just on the path down to Red Cedar falls. They were on the main trail as well! If you don’t like the idea of other fauna feasting on you, DO NOT DO THIS WALK. The Wonga walk provides the same atmosphere without trucking around mud and desperately swiping at leeches. Overall, the track is easy enough to follow if muddy, especially the wide fire trail like path out (which thankfully didn’t have the leeches). I enjoyed coachwood falls more than the red cedar falls (or maybe I was simply too creeped out at this point). Altogether I clocked more than 9 km including the trail down and back up red cedar falls with ascent/descent of 350m.

Beautiful drive into the Never Never picnic area. Easy to find the entrance to the track. The track was densely covered with leaf litter and was quite damp and in many spots muddy. A couple of areas we needed to climb over fall tree branches. The track also has a lot of surface roots and we had to keep an eye on the track rather than looking at the vegetation. Waterfalls looked lovely but due to many leeches we were unable to stand in the one spot for more than a few seconds. We had a strong repellent but we had to continually check for and remove leeches.
Maybe if there had not been rain over the last week there would have been fewer leeches. The walk took us 1.75 hours.
