Returning after a year, we were pleased to find that the familiar flavors and faces had not changed. Once again, the ever-friendly George provided exceptional service, and the entire team delivered great customer service. The food was nothing short of awesome, completing a memorable dining experience.

The Foreshore is a restaurant and café located on the Burnie shoreline specialising in seafood dishes.

We decided to stop by for lunch on a weekday. Arrived around 12:30 pm, they do not take bookings.

The tables available are outdoor with no shade, inside, a semi-enclosed sitting area and indoors (which I did not venture into as it was pretty busy when we arrived) we took a table in the semi-enclosed area. Probably best as the seagulls can be a bit too familiar with outdoor dining. And the glare from the afternoon sun (on the afternoon we visited) was pretty hot even with our sun hats.

Lunch:

Flathead and Chips and Salad (in-law)
Well battered fish, not too overalls crumbed. A fairly thin amount which allowed the fish to be appreciated. Really good chips, could easily have ordered another helping.

Flake and Chips and Salad (family friend)
Really fresh tasting. The better was thin and perfectly seasoned. Simple thin batter with some salt. Not overly salty and or over fried. Not oily. Really tasty chips. Was not the biggest fan of the salad. It had a strange combination of capsicum slices and bean shoots. Hard to pick up with the fork.

Pork Burger (came with chips) (mine- yum)
Really enjoyed the burger more than I thought. The bun was slightly sweeten, it tasted like a subtle brioche bun. Not as shiny. The pork with pulled and had an Asian fusion flavour, really lovely and not dry at all. The salad was simple and similar to the side side served with the flathead and flake. Hard to eat and pick up with the fork. I ended up cleaning my hands and just using my fingers to pick up the capsicum and bean shoots.

The chips were kind of the favourite at the table. Perfectly crunchy and not oily at all.

Beef Brisket (came with chips) (husband)
Really good portion. The beef brisket was not dry and flavoursome. The chips were a generous portion, I think it really made my husband happy, he was pretty quiet during lunch.

We recommend stopping by for lunch.

Service:
Quick and very professional. Surprised how fast our food was delivered and all fresh and hot. We had to wait for the chips to cool down.

The only thing we ask of customers eating outside with no cover from the seagulls, don’t be disrespectful to staff and expect them to be available to clean up after you. The seagulls will dive and tuck into your left overs. It’s polite to clean up after yourself. The gulls are aggressive and remove food and rubbish away from the tables onto the beach.

No bookings available , walk in only.
No table service. Pay at the counter.
Clean up after yourself when dining outside.
Professional service.

Would go again if ever in Burnie.

Awesome place to eat/drink by the beach! On the pricey side but that's to be expected. The staff were super friendly and accommodating. Would love to see a dedicated vegan dish or two on the brunch menu though!

It's a crowded place, it was busy but the food was fresh and very enjoyable.
Great views and met a random couple, we all enjoyed our meals.

Stopped in for brunch and was so impressed with the amount of gluten free options. Eggs Benedict were amazing and hubby couldn't finish his Big Breakfast!

Always busy, which in Tasmania means worth stopping, we have almost always been able to get a table, the sea food is excellent quality and quite reasonably priced. Highly recommended.

On a cruise. Stopped in Burnie, Australia for the day. Came to The Foreshore for lunch and were not disappointed. Large portions on the fish and chips, so big two of us shared an order.
