We booked for lunch at Hellyers Road after the distillery tour and neither experience disappointed.
The tour is an interesting and informative behind the scenes look at the operation of a distillery and the process for making a good whiskey. If you're a whiskey lover, it's worth paying for the taste of their 19 year old. And is you're REALLY a whiskey lover, you'll invest in the opportunity to bottle your own (complete with wax sealed lid and numbered bottles).
The tour takes about an hour so plan your dining accordingly. We started with the soup of the day - tomato - which was declared a winner... until the mains. The whiskey cured trout was raved about and probably topped the excellent fillet steak and the delicious pie. All serves were generous and tasty (did I mention the whiskey cured trout?). Service was friendly and polite, if a little slow (but we weren't in a rush). Would definitely return for a meal when next in the area.

Do the $114 tasting. Don't question it. Just do it. Wow. The staff are all knowledgeable and friendly. The tasting itself is as engaged or low key as you want - we opted to taste the 3 staff-assigned drams after chatting with them on our own personal preferences. Nailed it. Each was fantastic, and we brought 2 bottles. Internet is a bit patchy up there, so recommend taking a physical card for purchases. Best whisky in Tasmania so far.

Decided to come here for lunch along the North West Tasmanian Tasting tour. Pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food on offer. Both the whisky-braised beef potted pie and the Gnocchi were both delicious. Prices were a little steep, but for the quality and taste you’ll still be satisfied dining here.

Always worthwhile bringing tourists here. Interesting distillery tour, and the unique opportunity to fill your own bottle from a cask. Peaceful surrounds, nicely landscaped with art and some awesome wartah trees at the driveway entrance.
Also worthwhile staying for lunch at The Distillery Restaurant . On our tight budget we intended to share a ploughman's platter but accidentally got served a ploughman's Feast, the most expensive item on the menu. No regrets there, the waitress apologised for her mistake but we decided to pay for it as it was absolutely magnificent! We consider ourselves lucky as we would have been to cheap to order it otherwise!

Pleasant visit at the distillery cellar door.
We had done the tasting of 3 different whiskies and 3 different cream liqueurs paired with handmade whisky chocolates.
Great chocolate pairings on the cream liqueurs.
Had the original, 12 year old and the Leven's limited edition. The Leven's was viscous, thick, luscious and simple delicious, barrelled in ex Spanish sherry olorroso cask is amazing.
Will be back for more!
The tour involves a single tasting whisky, which I think is a bit disappointing. I would have done it if I got to taste some core whiskies as well.

It's really worth a visit! The Whisky is great, unfortunately not quite my style. Having said that, though, I only selected 'The Journey Whisky Flight Experience', with three whiskys (the double cask, the sherry cask, and the Journeyman) whereas I should have tried the Double Cask, the Single Malt and the 12 year Single Malt. I really enjoyed the Double Cask, but I clearly am not a sherry cask connoisseur. The very friendly, accommodating, and helpful staff suggested adding a drop or two of distilled water to the Whisky after the initial sips, and wow, it really brings out the flavours within each Whisky. I really enjoyed this experience and wished I wasn't driving. Next time, I'll definitely return to try the quality Whisky's. The distillery is in the countryside just south of Burnie, only about a 4 minute drive up from the highway.
Again, well worth a visit!

Went for lunch at Hellyers Road Distillery Restaurant. Price a little on the higher end but serving is huge. Entree was fantastic! Mains were tasty. Polenta chips not crispy but still tasted good. Great selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Customer service was excellent. Plenty of parking. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Awesomeness in a beautiful setting. The Tucker and Whisky was super tasty 😋.
Check out the affogato and cheese board in the pics 👌🏽.
The whisky tasting was accompanied by a small cheese board the cleanse the palette.
The staff were friendly, helpful and informative.
The tour was well worth a look with some interesting facts, history and an informative look a the behind the scenes process.
Even got to purchase ... pour and seal my own bottle of individually numbered and recorded Whisky. 🥃😁😊

Whilst I was not a big fan of Hellyers Road scotch before, I was converted and actually looking forward to go back.
The restaurant offers delicious meals catering for all dietary needs, and also offers a nice selection of all Hellyers Road products. Awesome experience.
The whiskey tour and tasting is next level. I was very happily surprised to learn that the distiller is a lady. She is amazing, and some of the stuff she created is amazing. Bottling your own scotch is a pretty cool experience as well. Highly recommend!!

Hellyers offers tour of their distillery which is really worth it. The tour includes tasting of one of their product. The guide that we had was very knowledgeable.

The cafe has good views. Service is great and staff are friendly. The whiskey tasting menu was really good and the scones were amazing.

Grand place for lunch especially Sunday lunch. Reasonable charges in a picturesque landscape tasting top rate whiskey and for the ladies low alcohol liqueurs original, coffee and cream. If you don't like them there's cocktails and of course desserts. Now it just needs you to ease up and enjoy.

Great place to visit! Hubby is a whiskey drinker and wanted to go there, I was just tagging along to be a good wifey, but I really enjoyed it too, even without drinking whiskey! He did some tasting, there was a lovely cheeseboard to nibble on and there's a restaurant/cafe so I had a nice cuppa. Then we did the tour, which was really informative and entertaining. Hubby even got to bottle his own whiskey. Great views (especially loved that the colours of the building were from the colours in the gorgeous landscape!). Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Great experience.
