Rolling Pin Pies & Cakes

Truly awesome and equally amazing was the person serving. Thank you for your warmth and the manner you took my order very caring. The pies were equally amazing. Steak pepper cheese, rosemary lamb, chicken carbonara all amazing. Worth a try go for it.

My local haunt when I want old school bakery goodness. The pies are amazing & be sure to checkout the beestings!! Family pies are also a good option for dinner. Just a heads up if you want one that isn't frozen, get there before around 1PM.

Having moved from Scotland where I very much enjoyed the delights of Gregg's (Steak bake especially), I was relieved to find such an awesome bakery. The jumbo chunky beef pie is hands down the greatest pie I have ever had. It is a work of art. It pairs incredibly well with a lemon meringue tart or a chocolate eclair.

Obviously we had to try these award-winning pies, although every bakery reckons its pies and vanilla slice win awards, right?

Over our Ocean Grove holiday we were loyal Rolling Pin customers and went back multiple times: my friends were obsessed with the mushroom and truffle pie although I didn’t try it myself.

I liked the lamb and rosemary pie (which included peas and carrots) and the pepper steak pie, which had a mix of mince and juicy chunks. These were oval-shaped. I also had the beef, cheese and bacon pie but that was less special: a square pie much the same as at most other bakeries.

My friends liked these pies so much they would go back for a second pie in one sitting, and bought more to take home where they were much appreciated!

I had an only okay coffee; this isn’t really a coffee place though.

I also tried the French vanilla slice although with cream, jam and custard it was very rich and I think I’d prefer the regular vanilla slice with just custard.

Bakery was always super busy but the young staff were efficient and served us quickly and calmly. There is a window from the street into the kitchen, where people were watching the pies being made like Christmas crowds at the Myer windows.

Thank goodness some things don’t change. It’s been 20 years since we’ve visited the Rolling Pin and today we dropped in for a pie. Still THE best bakery we know and your award winning mushroom and truffle pie is to die for.

Spectacular service and I highly recommend going to any of the Rolling Pin sites to enjoy an amazing coffee and lunch. Australia's Best Pie for a reason.
