Barney's Bar & Bistro

Absolutely delicious. My salmon was perfectly cooked. Veggies were flavourful. Perfect texture. The sweet potato mash 🤤. Kids loved their dinosaur chicken nuggets and crunchy chips. Hubby enjoyed his pepper sauce portahouse steak. Well priced. Absolutely delicious. Definitely A+. Highly recommended. Staff were so welcoming. Definitely felt well taken care of. The kangaroos were so lovely to watch too.

Ordered the Kangaroo with mushroom sauce, first time having kangaroo so wasn't sure what to except. It was very nice, tasted great and chips were crispy. The chicken Parma's look very appetizing too. Great atmosphere to sit outside and enjoy the views.

Food here is delicious! We came on our first night in Halls Gap and came back the second night as we enjoyed it so much, service was efficient and staff were lovely. Strongly recommend 😁

Colin and Sue are the loveliest of hosts, always so friendly and keen to please.
The food is excellent and the atmosphere of the old shearing shed is pretty unique.

If you're in the Grampians area, it's well worth taking the time to drop in for a great country experience.

We went here the other night and it was better than we anticipated, which is always good. As soon as we walked up to the premises we were struck by the fact that it is a converted shearing shed. When we went in the interior was fascinating and very Australian. Possibly the best surprise was the quality of the beef sausages, absolutely delicious! Great value and a unique place to dine. Highly recommended, congratulations to the owner Colin. 👏

I arrived at Barney's for an end of year dinner with a group to see a sea of cars in the car park. Absolutely packed. I went in dreading the waits we would endure. Delighted to say that although there were a lot of people, service at the bar was quick and friendly and delicious food arrived in a timely manner. We were all impressed. Well done and thank you

Amazing food, service and atmosphere definitely one of my favourite pubs. My parents live in Pomonal and we often visit. Also my parents have told me how amazing they’ve been for the pomonal community after the bushfires. I look forward to coming to Barney’s in March :)

Couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Susie was fantastic. Friendly, attentive and knowledgeable, a true asset. Lots of GF options on the menu and non alcoholic wine. Food was amazing, drinks were cold and the place was buzzing. Perfect spot, will be coming back again as our regular now.

This time in a group
of 13, all loved their meals. Good, honest, foody deliciousness! I don't do photos of food but the chicken was NOT frozen, deep fried slivers of poorly crumbed rubber, like everywhere else. They were fresh, thick, tender and perfectly crumbed. Wifey enjoyed the local wines. Stellar service from Susie and Brad under pressure. Patience people, it's definitely worth it if you're in the region. Take note: there's no beer on tap so go have a sook somewhere else if you're precious... Definitely recommended!
As a sidenote, please go out and support local business and especially local producers in your area....

One of, if not the best Surf and Turf's I've had in a long time. I asked if it could be cooked as medium but ensure no blood. It was as tender as it possible could have been, yet no blood present. The sauce was just perfect and the chips were nice and crispy. We came in with 2 families of 4 adults and 3 children and no one of us had any complaints. FULL COMPLIMENTS to the chef and the manager for having an awesome attitude. It made a great start to our weekend away in the Grampians.

We came with a large group of 20 people and the drink and meals were perfect for our family! Great job to all the staff

They do the rustic charm very well, great atmosphere and couldn't fault the food. Friendly staff, we enjoyed it. The house charcoal Shiraz is a show stopper, underpriced.

Plenty of room to circulate among our group. Relaxed atmosphere. Drink 0rices a bit above what I would have expected. Good option to get half serve meals which were adequate and good quality

I had vegetarian lasagna it was so good.
6 others had various parmas, they also enjoyed them, one was slow coming out.
I had the calamari they didn't enjoy it.
Service was great, place has a great vibe about it.
Highly recommend this place.

We loved having dinner at Barney’s for the first time this week. The staff at the counter were genuinely hospitable and friendly. The restaurant is rustic, but clean and comfortable (though a touch cool in winter, wear an extra layer).
Our meals were brought out in good time, fresh and hot. 👍
The serves were generous, delicious and good value.
We will definitely be back next time we’re in town!
