Ben's Chicken Racing Tambo

Such a fun night. Ben is a great entertainer & the chickens were gorgeous 😍 ❤.
Loved the pub dogs as well, Sue (male) & Memphis.
Would recommend stopping in this town overnight to enjoy this experience.
Plenty of other things to see as well.

What a great fun night out. Bens chicken racing is hilarious and its all for charity. Loved every moment of it. Arrived at 5pm and it was happy hour (bonus). Stayed for dinner which was outstanding. I had Barra, husband had Parmie, both served with super fresh salad and chips. If you are thinking of going to Tambo dont miss out on this fabulous night out. They even have a courtesy pick up from the free camp at Scrubby Bend. But it is walking distance.

If you can get a better experience at an out back pub, well I haven't found it yet. It was so much fun for our whole family and the best part is it is raising money for a worthy cause. A big Pat on the back for the owners. The food was awesome and the staff were great too. 10/10. Bangers n mash could feed 2 people

One of the funniest nights of my life! Publican Ben sure knows how to entertain a crowd. Before the Chicken race began he recited the racing form of each chicken, and how the chooks were named and coloured. As there was no "scratchings"on this night in Chicken Snitzel Stadium lol, Ben proceeded to enlighten the guests on how the race would be conducted. Lots of banter about foul play and eventually what would happen to the chickens in the kitchen if they were ever disqualified hahha the rules of the race were relayed to all of us waiting to bid for a worthy chook. The proceeds of the auction were split evenly between the person whom had acquired the winning chook in auction and the other half goes to a charity. The night I was there it was for the kids in the bush doing it tough!
The race itself as Ben explained was a lap of 4 times around a chicken run with the winner being the chook that crossed the line first. Now this is where Foul Play comes into the equation as you know chooks have a habit of running both back and forwards and if a chicken happened to be close to the winning line at the end of the race and just steps over the finish line, then that chook is declared the winner! How do you get chickens to run 4 times around a race, you may ask...well a bucket of chook food in tied to a remote car which proceeds around the track with chooks running happily after it! It is indeed hilarious to watch the action and the folks gleefully urge their chicken on to cross that line first.
Such simple entertainment in the middle of nowhere and this event entertains visitors every night. Needless to say charities in the bush for Children and the Flying Doctors have indeed benefitted from very entertaining night!
Well done Ben for developing this event, not sure I have heard of anything else out there like it!

Ben was very entertaining, and the coloured chooks just topped it off. Brilliant. Gorgeous big puppy dogs were an absolute delight (and I generally am not a dog fan!) A must see if you’re ever in the QLD outback.

Wonderful surprise here in Tambo. Ben is a great host and does a great show. All for charity too so a really feel good experience. Bring your cash and “buy” a chook for the race.

A novel and fun way to raise money for a worthy charity whilst entertaining travellers after a day on the road.

What is there not to like. Ben and his team do a fantastic job to entertain tourists for a few hours. The pie and mash as is the reasonably priced drink are great. Well done

Hilarious racing. Definitely worth a stop. Fun afternoon. Food at pub fairly ordinary but reasonably priced.

Was a fun night Ben and his young helper were great. The meal was nice and our chicken bubble bee Is still running lol. Money is raised for good causes great job Ben. Oh I forgot there Is a courtesy bus to the camping areas so u can have a drink or two safely.

Great fun and entertaining. Show starts at 5pm and finishes about 6pm. Bens very entertaining as are his chickens and its all for a good cause.

If you are travelling through Tambo - Bens Chicken Races is a definite on your to do list. Watching the publican/auctioneer with the coloured chickens - very entertaining

We bought a chicken the both night we stayed at the North Gregory. Aprecot and Chicken Dinner but didnt do any good. It was for a good cause and we had a great couple of nights there. Will stop here again. I got a tee shirt to remind me of the place.

Honestly one of the best experiences I've had- stick this on your bucketlist. Ben and the ladies provide pure entertainment, and all for an amazing cause -the RFDS. So head along, have a few beers, chow down on some delicious grub and take in a true outback wonder.

So much fun, Ben is a natural showman. A lot of money getting raised for charity.
The pub is good too. Had very nice meals, there is a live acoustic band.
Nice day i grabbed o e of his pies before leaving town and it was fantastic 👍👏

When bookmakers on the subcontinent get wind of this sport it will reaal fly. Purpose built tracks and stadiums will be developed and tickets will be out of reach of the average man. Do yourself a favour and get to Tambo for Ben's Chicken races.

The staff are friendly, drinks are well priced, the racing is tight and the food was excellent. Topping it all off the pub has not 1, but 2 pub dogs.

Be warned chicken racing will make you laugh, willingly give to charity and you may cop a bit of dog drool.
