A well preserved power station with its original equipment still in place, lots of other great exhibits on display also.

Really enjoyed this visit learning about the processes involved in electricity and gas production.
The Nogo House was really interesting as it was pared back and allowed you to remember snippets of childhood memories of similar scenes.

Worth a visit if you’re in Longreach. There is so much stuff here that you could spend all day looking through the various sections of this museum and still not see it all! Lots of old knick knacks, photos, equipment and old machinery from the original powerhouse. The lady who greeted us was very friendly and we are glad we went!

Really good, loved the old nogo station building, the big engines are amazing, out the back is a whole diesel electric loco! The shed is a great timber construction, staff really good, heaps of info, thank you, went twice lol :)

There is a bunch to see on yourself guided tour allowing you to take it all in at your own pace around the former Longreach Powerhouse Generating Complex with its local history collection including the 1921 swimming baths and NOGO Cottage. There are displays of agricultural and road maintenance machinery used in the development of the central west.
Power was generated from the site from 1921 right up to 1985 when the town was linked to the state grid. Out the back of the complex is NOGO Cottage. The cottage is part of the original homestead of NOGO Station built in 1918, Today it depicts family living conditions in Western Queensland circa 1938-1950. But don’t just take our word for it, get yourself into the Longreach Powerhouse and Historical Museum and take trip back intime.

This place is great. So much to see of yesteryear. The power generation to the train. Lots of history in one place. The lady at the front is great, so much knowledge on the history and the town. Do yourself a favour and take a visit.

I would recommend visiting the Longreach Powerhouse museum over any other attractions in the area. You can learn about the history of the area, power generation and more. No bookings needed and no exorbitant prices to see everything there.

Well worth a visit in Longreach. Only $22 for a family of 2 adults and 2 children. The hut it the back was an eye opener for our children. Loved it.

So, so cool. Allow more than an hour to view everything. So many rooms we didn't know were there and even outside. Made the mistake of only allowing a short time. (We were on a road trip)
Mechanics, boilermakers, and electricians will love the sheds.
Cute little homestead all laid out giving you an idea of living standards.
Recommend for all ages.

Thank you!

Really interesting history of early power generation . So good to see so many old generators preserved. Lots of other history items too. Old gas (from charcoal and later coal) fired engines. Didn't use steam as not enough water available. Such an asset to have them in original condition
