Old Paney Homestead

Fascinating history to this old homestead which was built in the 1800’s. Sad story regarding William Crawford. It was cool to see the old oven in the kitchen. We were surprised that the house was open so we were able to look around inside. The dog’s quarters still remain there, they were provided for the working dogs. We spent quite awhile walking around here, reading all the historical details.

This place is a good place to learn our history. Clean place, comfort and safe for kids. Many choices to view around this place, eg old dog houses, police wheel

Great restored homestead gives an insight into the conditions experienced by the early settlers in this region

Nice Place to visit atleast once in a lifetime.

The history of this location was very interesting & worth a stop while exploring the Gawler Ranges. We were able to enter the homestead via a rear door. There is a toilet out the back if needed.

Located in the Gawler Ranges the old Homestead is locked and cannot be entered.

There are numerous old relics of the sheep station and old dog huts you can see. There are also some short hikes (easy to medium) that you can start from here.

Absolutely wonderful scenery of the Gawler Ranges can be seen from the track but you need to walk to get a real view of the Ranges and the starkly beautiful rocky range.

This place is a step back in time. The pioneers of this region must of found it tough. This place is a must see. We worth the drive.
