Star House Chinese Restaurant

Star House will always have a place in my heart as one of the best places for a naughty yum cha in Adelaide! Their chicken feet is highly recommended.

It was one of the highlights on our SA cruise. We haven't had any decent Cantonese food while we were on board the Queen Elizabeth. We were missing our favourite Yum Cha and craved for Yum Cha. This restaurant provides the typical Hong Kong style Yum Cha Dim Sums and made us feel at home.

We come here regularly for yum cha which is great quality. Main dishes are generous in size. Steamed buns are also very delicious. Service is always great although some waiters are a little keen to take plates away when we're not finished with the dish. Other than that, the place is always packed and is probably one of the busiest and best authentic Chinese restaurants in Adelaide.

We came back again because aside from the delicious food, the staff are very nice people who were kind to allow us to sit outside with our Poodle.

Excellent option for yumcha. It's a very popular place so I recommend booking, or get there before they open so you can be first in line when they do open.
Not much is open on a Sunday in this area for the record.
They serve authentic Chinese dimsim / yumcha. It was excellent quality. The service is efficient but not very personal. Some waiters don't seem to understand English also.

I love the curry fish balls, in fact, I have asked the receptionist first, got confirmation and then walked in. Great fish balls, truly original. The sour and spicy taste from the pork trotter is lovely too. If it is a sunny day, eating outside in the sun is chill. A popular restaurant, booking is essential.

A very scrumptious yum cha in Adelaide! The siew mai is simply one of the best I've tasted so far. Very authentic Hong Kong style dim sum.

This restaurant was recommended by a friend who travels to adelaide from interstate every year for the footy. They go every time they come, It is the best chinese in gouger st, absolutely loved it! Massive selection of dishes, large serves and super delicious 👌

My goodness me, did I roll out of there, of course I did. The waiter, Love , Love, Loved him. Excellent knowledge of the food. And it just kept coming. Didn't eat for a day after that and that's unusual for me. Lol!

Nice Chinese, I came here for dinner it was about 9:30 so it was late. I ordered some veggies with bean curd and chilli, and I had pork shu mai, and some spring rolls. The waiter knew so much about seafood. I can’t want to go and try the lobster :-)

Consistently good food. Yum cha on weekends are always busy so best to book ahead. Live seafood to choose from and a huge selection of fine wine on display.

Beautiful Chinese restaurant in the CBD in Adelaide. Friendly services, amazing produce, fresh seafood and very kind services. We had a really good time. The only thing is a bit expansive; but completely understanding with the soaring on price in this little high inflation time at the moment.

I was recommended by a local Chinese friend that I made on this trip (aka the Hongkong owner of Ban Ban) to visit Star House (稻香）for dim sum yum cha. All the Cantonese popular dim sum are available. Unfortunately, there are only 3 of us and there is a limit of how many different dishes we can try. All the dishes that we had was good.

Me and a close friend of mine ordered a huge spread during lunch time (Yum Cha) and every dish was delicious and varied. The highlights were easily the salt and pepper squid, beef pastry, pork buns and shallot cakes. Not the first time I've been, and definitely won't be the last. However, don't expect fantastic service.

The best Chinese restaurant in Adelaide, food and environment are super nice and clean! Kids friendly, service is great, every single dish we’ve tried has been delicious and authentic. Honestly, the price is not expensive at all compare to other restaurants around and they definitely got better quality. We had amazing experiences with them no matter in small or large group.

📝: Best yumcha I’ve had in a long time. A wide selection of Cantonese style yumcha that you won’t find as easily. The restaurant is huge so even when it’s busy, you won’t need to wait for too long.

❤: I was so excited to see the Fried Taro with Pork & Prawn Filling as well as the 炸两 Fried Chinese Donuts Wrapped in Rice Noodle. Two of my most favorite yumcha dishes ever! The 🐽 Baked BBQ Pastry was to die for 🤤, the pastry so flakey and the filling so flavorful. And can’t finish up a meal without something sweet like 🍨 Fried Ice Cream and 🍳🥧 Egg Tart.

Food and service is extraordinary. Sweet and sour beef is much better than other restaurant. Hope the tall guys with long hair will look after us again:)

This is one of the only few places that I keep coming back. Great value for money, vibrant & busy vibe, and delicious dishes. I set my wedding reception venue at Star House and they did such an amazing job. Many guests told me they absolutely enjoyed the food here and had a great experience.

Everybody knows you don’t go to a dim sum restaurant for the service so who cares if they don’t speak English 😒. Food was phenomenal, new favorite spot in Chinatown, salt and pepper soft shell crab were amazing.
