Modern Classic Shop

Have been shopping at Modern Classic for years and it's the best clothing store in the city. The collection is excellent, Tim is great, and I love him forever for introducing me to Portuguese Flannel.

Why only 23 reviews?They deserve 230 five star reviews or 2300 five star reviews 😊They stock high quality timeless pieces and interesting brands from all over the world. Tim, the owner of this hidden gem, is a very cool, knowledgable and wonderful human being. His shop got a great vibe to it. They closed their doors during this tough time but we cannot wait to see them reopen their doors again. Not just for us but so everyone can have the opportunity to discover this place.

Just had my first experience at the shop, probably the friendliest shop I’ve ever been to. Tim and Omar were great and made the store experience super pleasant. Can see myself coming back here many more times for their great stock and service. I could not give a more glowing recommendation.

Got a sweater here the other day. It’s beautiful and such good quality. The owner is fantastic. He took time with us and chatted. Highly recommend.

Have known Tim for years and that’s all you need to know - excellent products and excellent and thoughtful service from Tim.
By the way, if you want a genuine French work jacket through to a Drakes knitted silk tie talk to Tim. He’s got it all. Parfait.

Hands down the best menswear shop in Melbourne. Tim is fantastic. Service is unparalleled. Their in house MCS trousers and sports coats are honestly the best I’ve come across. Great selection of casual gear. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Stopped by while on vacation from Brooklyn. Tim and his colleague were very friendly, accommodating, and helpful. Even gave me a beer. The store carries great brands and has a great vibe. Would be my immediate go to for menswear, even in Brooklyn. Thanks fellas.

There are only a few places anywhere worthy of my attention and review and this is one of them .
I didnt know this place existed till very recently but when I did accidentally discover it online first I immediately knew the pedigree behind the owner tim cecil .and what a wonderful gentleman. Totally sincere and his passion in his work and now this shop stocking high quality timeless products is immensely obvious .
The place has a wonderful relaxed vibe. There is no pressure ,you will receive exceptional service from a man who knows exactly what he is talking about .
The products are simply outstanding .

Update : I wish to add an update to my first review now seeing it’s been almost one year coming up since I discovered modern classic in Fitzroy..
I have done all my shopping here 100% and will continue to do so .why ?
Both Tim and his charming side kick Audric both provide genuine and sincere customer service to complement Tim’s amazing products on offer ,most of which are hard to come by here in Australia .
You will never have to question the quality,price and craftsmanship in any of the products .inis meanin of Ireland ,aspesi ,Derek rose ,Alex mill,corgi of wales and drakes to name a few brands that all have a reputation for quality craftsmanship and no out sourcing of production .made in England ,America and Italy ,France etc ..
Stuck on what to pair or complement an outfit ? You will find it there in equal proportion,both can recommend and help you to achieve your look but most importantly your personality.i have found this to be one of Audrics strong points that I really appreciate .his knowledge and tastes are exceptional.
You will find no egos or snobbishness there .
Relax and enjoy the vibe .tims two little mascots ,young adorable pups will also help you .

Great store with well curated collection of clothing. Service is first rate and for discerning men who dress in a classic, relaxed style, it is about the only store at which you need to shop.

Nice range of really good quality staple clothes. Most items I could see in my wardrobe. Tailor made jeans in Japan is on the list!
