Had Pad Gra Pow (Thai Basil beef), chicken satay as the mains with coconut rice.
Both were amazing. So much flavour. The pad Gra Pow has some spice and kick to it. Not over the top, but perfect in my opinion. Good and decent serves which was plenty to share for two people who were hungry. Also had the chicken satay skewers, curry puffs and roti which were incredible. Highly recommend and the people were absolutely lovely, polite and quick to serve your food. Will definitely come back!

Vela Thai is a small Bay Street Thai restaurant that delivers in spades. Fast, friendly service. Great menu with regular Thai dishes and a range of specials worth a look. The food is just beautiful, delicious, flavoursome and fresh! We loved every single dish and their Roti is so good. BYO available and small drink selection in house too. Small seating inside and out so worth booking. 100% will be back, just great

Great restaurant with flavoursome Thai. We had fried silken tofu, the savoury coconut dumplings, honey duck curry and pork ribs curry. All were great, well balanced, there was a decent amount of heat and spice on the dishes. BYO too!

Delicious food with unique homely feel. Service is very friendly and unobtrusive. Portions are perfect and well priced. Always a delight.

Really surprised at how good this place was. We normally eat Thai food around the city, but this place trumps them all.
We ordered 3 dishes + dessert and not one of them disappointed.
The honey duck curry was very unique with a refreshing splash of fruit. The spicy crispy pork was exploding with flavour. The crispy barramundi was made perfectly with a light and crispy batter.
The customer service was friendly and attentive.
Would definitely come back here again!

Best authentic Thai in Port Melbourne. Excellent Team and customer service. Good value for money and vegan options available too. The food here is Super delicious from Entree to Main and Dessert.. the Roti with Satay Sauce, Spicy Chicken Wings, Thai Donut with Pandan Custard Dip, Three Flavoured Barramundi, Chu Chee Salmon, Thai Milk Tea, Thai Fried Rice and Pineapple Fried Rice are our favourites. These are among the food we always order when we visit Vela Thai.

My family and I have been here many times and we will definitely visit again and I 100% recommend to everyone. A must try.

What more can a person ask for. Definitely a hidden gem in Bay Street Port Melbourne.

The foods are very good. I tried the pineapple fried rice and mom tried Pad Thai. My son normally really picky with his food but he even gave a thumb up. The sisters there are friendly and super nice. Will definitely recommend

Food is absolutely tasty and authentic, we had Pad Cha seafood and Pad Thai. The staffs are exceptionally good service with beautiful smiles.

Went here for dinner last night, the food was by far the best Thai cuisine I have had in ages! Everything we ordered was amazing 👏. Definitely worth trying as you will not be disappointed. I can't wait to dine there again. Thankyou so much for a lovely experience 💗.

Loving their new breakfast/brunch menu! Loved the thai coffee (done properly with the drip) and thai milk tea. Also had a fried chicken sandwich (think succulent chicken with a delicious sauce) and the traditional thai breakfast which was simple but filling. 10/10 would recommended.

It's quaint, limited seats, uniquely presented, unpretentious delicious modern Thai fares ...

The message for the owner was spot on! We were having a terrible evening with travel accommodations being cancelled last minute, we were welcomed in and offered help to use the phone. The food was fantastic! We could not have been happier with our experience at the restaurant.

You will never be able to order Thai anywhere else ever again after eating here. Authentic Thai with a modern twist, I was already planning my next visit after the entree arrived. Roti and satay sauce had me hooked at the first bite then the the Chee Chee Salmon was to die for.

New menu additions tonight did not disappoint, the new coconut dumplings look like a dessert but they a delicious savoury entree!

Food you can tell is made with love ! Owner is kind and welcoming, great service. A hidden gem, 100% recommend !

Dinner was great and service was good. It was busy. The barramundi salad and pad cha seafood was delicious!

Hardly ever do Google reviews but it was such a good experience we decided to. Stumbled upon this cute little restaurant and to our surprise, it was a fantastic experience. The food was absolutely delicious! In addition to this, after initially being told they had run out of their Thai donuts with pandan custard, they decided to make another “last batch” for us. Staff were exceptionally lovely and service was efficient. Would highly recommend and we will definitely be returning :)

I loved the Thai chicken fried rice. Reminded me of my mum's cooking. Felt like home. Will come back soon.
